I was on the Depo shot, it did BAD things to me. I had my monthly visitor for 6 WHOLE months straight! So the myth that you dont have it is just that a myth. Not for all I suppose, but it was a myth for me. I also did get pregnant on the Depo shot, but had a miscarriage. After the second shot a miscarriage and 6 months of Aunt Flow visiting, my doctor refused to put me back on it. There are meds that can be taken to get rid of horrid cramps, ask your doc what he/she thinks is best. Good luck! |

First of all, you DEFINATELY need to talk to a Dr. first and make sure this is the right thing. Yes, I did use the Depo shot, but instead of missing my periods, i had one for THREE months straight......non stop. No wonder it was called birth control...LOL. The doctor told me that certain people have certain reactions to it. My best friend was the completo opposite, she didn't have one at all for the three months, so it can go either way. Good luck!! |

I've heard some pretty bad things about it.....personally I wouldn't do it because after you've stopped it takes so long to get out of your system it becomes hard to concieve....*Shrugs* that's just me though....talk to your docto about it....maybe it is an option for you....Just definately not one for me EEK lol |

my suggestion is to go to the doc and talk to your doc about it... if your body couldn't handle losing the blood it would stop on it's own... but i suggest you talk to your doc about this before you go out and do it.. you can call make an appointment on your own and talk to your family doc(your mom doesn't even have to know that you talked to the doc) the depo shot isn't right for everyone |

I have been on the shot for 3 or 4 years now, I have not had any problems with it. I like it because it is not something I have to think about every day. But everyone here is correct, you need to talk with a doctor and figure out what is best for you. Good Luck, and if you want to talk more about this, message me. Be Good... |

Does it have to be your family doctor? Last summer, I was in the ninth grade GOING into grade ten, and I was talking to him about it. He was convinced that it was a hormone thing and would last only a couple months since mybody is out of wack. I'm not saying that 2.5 years is a long time but having it HEAVY regularly wasn't uncommon. He seemed to...kinda discourage me from it. But he's the doctor that also said that I didn't have a wart when I did, and never thought to question my cyst and let it grow for a couple months. He doesn't seem to be a very good doctor.
I didnt know that you could gte it for three to six months straight. How often does that happen? Why did it go on for so long? For the people who got it for longer, what was your body like? (short, tall, thin, not so thing, small boobs, medium boobs, etc. etc.) |
