Two weeks had passed, since The Search For Missing Fairview Woman; The News Headlines read. Jared Jordan; husband of The Missing Woman has taken a leave of absence from work to help with the search. Life in Fairview seemed at a stand still. People were afraid to allow their children to play after dark for fear of a kidnapper or something worse, hiding out in the town. Shopping at the malls had decreased when word was out that it was Amy Jordan who had disappeared & was possibly abducted. Mike & Patti Havens, as well as the rest of the family, continued to stay in close contact with State Trooper David Westmoreland. Mike had called the trooper the following day, discussing with him., issues relating to Amy's disappearance. Patti had spoke with the trooper again, offering any information she could that could help find her cousin. Halloween came & went. The leaves had begun to change their colors, to Crimson, bright Yellow, Orange, the air seemed to have a feeling of sadness...of foreboding to it.. The house Amy & Jared shared was silent; empty with Amy missing..., Life for Cecilia & George Paxton; the parents of the missing woman, would never be the same. Ceil blamed herself, thinking had she only waited for her daughter, she would still be here. Time after time, she re- played Amy's message, over & over again.....hoping....praying, her daughter would come home. The sheriff's department had all available men aiding in the investigation.., The state police sent in Divers to check Lake Blythe & Lake Shiloh, for the missing woman. Trooper; Westmoreland was puzzled., the area of Fairview had been searched, the surrounding towns and counties, the young woman had seemed to vanish in to thin air.. Neighbors were interviewed 1 by 1 long time friends of the family; & of the missing woman were interviewed, police asked that potential witnesses, shoppers from the festival come in for an interview or callthe city's station or the state police post. Something was missing.......something just didn't feel right. Looking up from the mound of paperwork on his desk.., Trooper Westmoreland noted the time, 6:30pm he had went off duty at 2:30pm didn't notice the time. Getting up from his desk, he pushed the chair back & walking into the commander's office, he looked in to see if Roger Shanks was still in. He, knocked on the door. The commander looked up, from viewing the same case files, Trooper Westmoreland had been working on. '' Come on, in David.'' The Post Commander stated. ''Roger.., I've got this feeling that there is something we're missing here'' David said. indicating the files on the missing Fairview woman. The commander looked at David; 1 of his best men at the post. Putting down a map of the area & areas surrounding Fairview., The commander asked the trooper his opinion. David Westmoreland sat in the chair in front of Shanks' desk. ' I believe, it is someone who knew Amy Jordan; ........perhaps, someone obsessed with her......, this case has the markings of a stalker; a predator., I honestly don't believe that we are dealing with a stranger here...., I believe this is someone who knew this woman....., knew her well.., knows where she lives.... knows her activities...., her errands....,knows everything about her.'' The commander held his left hand underneath his chin while Trooper Westmoreland continued. Picking up the faded maps he had situated in front of him, on his desk.. he pointed to an area for David to look at. '' This area here, see here, Lake Blythe....,on our new map, but here on this one., there's a small remote area here between Blythe & Lake Shiloh.'' '' Yes'', David said. Comparing the old, faded map to the post's map '' What is this here?'' he pointed to an area that possibly could be overlooked. Bending forward, studying the map. Then David looked at the commander. '' That's Choya Bluff, & this has to be Chatoshi Creek, & there......,that is Willow Mountain.'' '' These have never been updated.... never been put on a map, the orginal map of the place was lost.'' Trooper Westmoreland stated. ''Are you certain?'' The commander asked. '' Yes, I'm very positive, the place is full of old stories...., we all heard when we were kids....., stories of the ghosts of miners... can be seen & heard in that area..., a variety of old stories it's tales passed down from generation to generation....old folk lore from many of the longtime residents. '' I suppose any one never felt there was a need to update the area on a map.., it's remote...., no one lives there, it was deserted in the early 1930's Dawning hit Trooper Westmoreland like a bolt of lightning. '' Remote....., lost..., difficult to find........'' That's it!'' the trooper said. '' A stranger visiting the town & surrounding area could never find this place.., even the area's residents would find it difficult at best.., it would be someone who knew this area very well, possibly travelling it every day.'' Trooper Westmoreland taking his hand, brushing it through his hair. '' Where did this map come from Rog?'' '' The Mayor; Sydney Stivers had it sent over an hour ago, when I came across this area & then compared it to our map, I couldn't find it any where.'' '' Oh... mercy.'' David said. Commander Shanks looked at Trooper Westmoreland. '' I think you just might be on to something David.'' Looking around at the clock. '' It will be dark soon.'' The commander stated. 9:30pm '' Let me make a call..... I'll get all available men, pull them out of bed,...... let me call Sydney,.... get the city to assist with this.'' David placed his hat back onto his head. He turned looking at the commander. '' I'll call Mike Havens...., we played in that area when we were kids'' .......... To Be Continued...........
