I set out to write just one sestina Even if it drives me out of my mind Reading it will make you crazy Understanding it is impossible I'll make your head ache But you will appreciate my attempts Because you've made your own attempts
While I'm hashing out this sestina My scribbling hand begins to ache Transfering such thoughts from my mind Is next to and oh so nearly impossible Please don't think I'm crazy Although I know I'm crazy
How appropriate, my elementary attempts Will conquer, for nothing is impossible Even the challenge of a daring sestina Though continiously racking my mind Brings on quite the familiar ache Oh yes, my back and hands ache
Will you still call me crazy? Will you still question my mind? Will you just laugh at my attempts? Will you understand my sestina? Will you think me impossible? Will you think this impossible?
Your answers ease the inner ache As you dance wildly to my sestina Maybe we are all a little crazy To step up and make such attempts Echoing warnings in my weary mind Fears of judgement sneak into my mind
What I once thought was impossible With less than two attempts I stretched through the ache And deemed myself crazy Before finishing this sestina
My first and last attempts Because it almost drove me crazy To get to the last word of this sestina

below is what I was given...I am not sure if I followed the pattern correctly, but above is my interpretation of the sestina...which sounds more like a nap or siesta to me ;)

sestina: fun with word order. pick 6 words (any, but mixing up with at least one verb and two adjectives). there are six stanzas of six lines each capped with one stanza of three lines. every line must end with the appropriate word. so if your words are a)bruise, b) run, c) sleazy, d) brackish, e) knee, and f) beer----the line order is a, b, c, d, e, f---f, a, e, b, d, c---c, f, d, a, b, e---e, c, b, f, a, d---d, e, a, c, f, b---b, d, f, e, c, a---last three lines then mix it up where you use at least one different word in each line or all six of them split up where ever you feel the need to. the last three lines are the climax. hope that helps (sestina, mind, crazy, impossible, ache, attempts
