They read my diary...Metal princess

I printed out a diary entry, left it, and went to have a shower...and my parents read it. It was full of cussing and complaining, and stuff i'd rather they didn't know about. They asked what it was about and i told them it was a story.

I'm shocked, angry and embarassed..but i know it's my fault for leaving it there.

Has anything like this ever happened to you?

Date: 5/22/2003 11:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 57074    omg..my brothers use to read my stuff, i use to have a lock on my diary and everything and they would break the lock and read everyhing and they would go around telling people what it said and ahhhh it made me mad, if it said i liked someone they would tell that person, so after all that i stoped keeping a diary, if i write anything down that personal i keep it with me at all times!!
Date: 5/22/2003 11:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    hasn't happened to me....happened to my cousin just after she graduated high school.....all of a sudden her folks knew that she had...hmm been intimate with her boyfriend...she figured that one of her friends spilled the beans when in reality her dad had found her diary and read it....
Date: 5/22/2003 11:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 37872    No, but I think that if they had the gaul to read your personal diary, then I think that they should have kept it to themselves. They're the ones that should feel embarrassed. After all, you were just expressing yourself to yourself and that's what a diary is for.
Date: 5/22/2003 11:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 3998    i am so sorry... did they buy the whole "story" thing? i hope they did... as for anything like this happening to me: not my diary however my purse once... we were having a family party at my aunts, and my little cousin went through my purse... all the adults were in the kitchen and my cousin went to my mom, and asked if she could have this candy she found... oops they were my bc pills... taken for my complexion i must add! and when asked were she found them she answered " in Rosies purse" i freaked out and couldnt look at my uncles for quite sometime! lol now i can laugh roseann
Date: 5/22/2003 11:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 53909    When I was living in my parents house, my dad would always snoop in my room. I dunno why he would because I never did anything bad and I can tell when someone was looking at my diaries.
Date: 5/22/2003 11:38:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 59418    omg, goth angel that sucks! Becky, that bites! poor girl! Ra Xaos, i left it in the printer though. I guess after reading the first line though, they shouldnt have continued reading on though. that makes me mad.
Date: 5/22/2003 11:39:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 59418    I think they bought the story roseann, i hope they did. My dad was like "i hope your not gonna post that on the internet..they language is disgusting...and it's weird!" I just said sorry..They dropped the subject though...I don't think i want to know what's going through their minds..
Date: 5/22/2003 11:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    nope... remember next time to file it away in a private area.. anything left open in sight(publicish area) is up for grabs for anyone to read
Date: 5/22/2003 11:46:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 59418    punk star chik, that sucks.
Date: 5/22/2003 11:46:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 59418    yeh, i realised that when i was in the shower midnightly. and now i wanna kick myself for being so dumb.
Date: 5/22/2003 11:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 51744    Yeah. Man did I get into some trouble for what was in it. No its not fair. But now looking back on it it was good that they did. So its kinda a toss up.
Date: 5/23/2003 3:55:00 AM  From Authorid: 60162    That really is invading your privacy and if you were to say that they would say "but you left it out for us to read" I know them too well, I had mine read from time to time and even pages taken out! I was sooo mad. I just hid it from then on and kept it out of sight all the time. Goodluck, and dont feel like its your fault! They should have realised it was private from the first line aI think. Tell them how you feel and they might understand.
Date: 5/23/2003 4:27:00 AM  From Authorid: 46069    ohhh ouch.. sorry to hear that.... you are right though .. its your own fault for leaving it out...make sure you find a good hiding spot cause after reading that , they will think something is wrong and keep looking for it to find out what is going on... they obviously knew nothing was wrong , whether it is or not, but now they really think something is wrong, and will want to know more
Date: 5/23/2003 4:39:00 AM  From Authorid: 54968    Just tell them one of your friends wrote it. My brother used to sneak in my room and read mine. Then he would go and tell everyone what I wrote. I never keep a diary anymore, though.
Date: 5/23/2003 4:39:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 59418    thanks for your replies guys! Love ya
Date: 5/23/2003 6:57:00 AM  From Authorid: 24003    oooh sorry that happened to you! Things like that can be so irritating. Just be more careful next time. Hope things get better. Love ya tons!
Date: 5/23/2003 7:40:00 AM  From Authorid: 58611    YEah my mom used to sneak and read mine all the time! I finally quit writting one because I got so mad at her for reading it and getting in trouble for what I had written!
Date: 5/23/2003 8:06:00 AM  From Authorid: 47699    That's never happened to me but I can imagine how you must feel. I think it was wrong of them to do that. They should respect your privacy. After all, you're a good person and they have nothing to worry about. I could understand if you were sneaking around taking drugs or something but that isn't the case at all. I guess some people are just nosy.
Date: 5/23/2003 9:07:00 AM  From Authorid: 43214    Yikes! That sucks. My parents, well, my mom mainly, would read all my notes from friends, if I left them in my jeans when she was doing laundry. It sucked! Now I keep them in a shoebox under my bed. Have Fun =D
Date: 5/23/2003 11:23:00 AM  From Authorid: 62095    I know how you feel when I had my first love (first boyfriend also) my mom found my diary and read it, she kept bringing up all of the things in it saying i should never see him again. Then she used to read notes that guys would write to me. My mom would never stay out of my stuff. *cass*
Date: 5/23/2003 1:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 39887    Well I admit to reading my neice's diary too when she lived with me. Her mom and dad sent her to live with me to get her away from the bad crowd she associated with. I live 5 hours away from there. She gave me lots of trouble, she was sixteen, lots of lies, deceit, and cutting school, getting drunk, etc. She left her diary in her room and I decided that maybe if I read it, I would be able to understand her better and OH did I!!! I was so shocked at what I found out and I was so embarrassed that I read it and regretted it too. I did tell her and she was put on restriction for a long time. We grew to love each other very much but I had to send her back after a year, my nerves couldn't take it. I do believe that any parents that would read their childs diary feel the need to know them better. I also feel that more parents should inspect their kids rooms. Sometimes the feelings put on paper are those they will never tell a parent and maybe they could stop a disaster from happening! Parents who snoop are parents who care.
Date: 5/24/2003 5:17:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 59418    thx guys for your replies.
Date: 5/24/2003 11:00:00 AM  From Authorid: 62095    If my parents had only done that to me once it wouldnt have been so bad but they did it over and over. I used to be close with them and now feel I couldnt trust them. What was in my diarys wasnt even that bad but they made me feel as if I was the worst person on the planet. I was a good kid I wasnt into any kind of drugs and I was wasnt "with a guy" until after high school. *Cass*
Date: 5/25/2003 4:58:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 59418    I'm with you Cass! I'm so sorry they did that! I don't do drugs either or "with" anyone!
