Hello Little Brat At first, I was going to say that something just got "un-stuck" inside the clock and it started working. But, the fact that you had it worked on before, sorta rules that out. So for lack of a better explanation, I'll go along with the "blessing from your step-grandpa" theory. Taking the occurence as a good omen certainly can't hurt anything. Enjoy the new house.
