The majority of Hollywood and the media are and always have been liberal. If I want to the conservative point of view, I'll listen to Rush Limbaugh or watch Bill O'Reilly. Both sides are there but the liberal slant is much, much more prevalent. |

When the media was pushing the idea that most of us are one step away from being homeless, they used to always potray the homeless people as families. So on the news we would constantly hear about some homeless family that somehow turned the corner and was now once again employed. The reality is that 85% of the homeless are single males with drug and/or alchol problems. To me that was liberal bias. In our area, you can call a press conference for just about any cause and the media turns out to cover your protest even if there are only a few people. If you don't have popular support why does the media cover it? |

i agree. I've actulally stopped reading newsday beacuse i just couldn't take it anymore. what are these liberals watching and reading that makes them think these things. I just read a book, of which i stole the title for this debate, that said, the idea of liberal bias was really just the conservatives trying to cover up the fact that it's really they who are controlling the media *shakes head*. i like to read things with perspectives different than mine to try and see things differently but this made it sound like conservatives are trying to brain wash the masses. oh well, thats for the comments -disgruntled angel- |

I would like to see all view points discussed in the media. What I don't like is when you're getting slanted news being portreyed as unbiased. |

Fox news has a more conservative slant, nearly every other network or cable news organization has a liberal slant, some more than others. So Fox therefore- by comparison seems biased. I'd say it's closer to being balanced than anything out there. Rush Limbaugh, well there's no doubt where he stands. |

I don't think it is as bad as it use to be. Before talk radio and FOXNews, most everything had a Liberal slant to it....and I've been watching the news for 25 years, so I know a little of what I'm talking about. Thank God things are a little more balanced now. |

It all depends on which source you are getting your news from. Some are conservative and others liberal. I just try to read/watch as many different sources as possible to try to actually put the real story together. BCAR, Fox balenced? I sincerely question that. |

A large majority of media is liberal slanted. The only thing that is on the side of the conservatives is talk radio and Fox News. And yes I sincerely think that Fox is balanced. |

no one wants to say THEY'RE THE SAME, THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE and that's why both sides see it as the OTHER side it's slanted to. Now, I vote liberal because I see it as the lesser of the two evils (rather than waste my vote on the green party...SHEESH!). But they're the same. I wish you guys would just make me Queen and we wouldn't have these problems. Peasants really don't know royalty when they see it, do they??? ~~The Mighty AND ROYAL, Queen DreamGyrl~~ |

Well it appears to me like the conservatives have the strongest hand at this time. The McArthy mindset is once more upon us. All things seem to come and go, each taking their turn. I do think the media is not free. How can it be when it is hog-tied to corporations? Cheers. GA |

jestr: yes, liberal and enlightenment thought greatly influenced our society, just look at our declartation of independance. but that does not make liberalism better or more "right" than conservative thinking. look at john locke and voltaire, two very recognizeable figures of liberal thinking. while both fought for the rights of the people, neither believed in universal sufferage, believeing that more uneducated or lower-class people wouldn't understand or appreciate this right. many liberal thinkers during that time felt that mass particiaption in government was a bad idea. apparently our founding fathers got that from them also. -disgruntled angel-
