I have thought about this before, actually saw a story where this really happened. It wasnt thru AI, their father was just a, well, lets just say he got around......the whole country! Not every state makes you get blood tests either, so it could happen more than we realize. |

Oh my... I didn't think of that. Kysta, what a true dilemna for these children begotten of artificial means. tsk, tsk, tsk. |

That's all well and good KC, if the parents can make the kids themselves. Some can't and I understand the need for this process. However, I'm just wondering if they should be able to contact the donors who signed the contract to never be found. Also about the "record keeping" scenerio. |

I know, DMK, I thought of that too, Do you think the blood tests should be required everywhere in lieu of this new generation created by technology? |

Wow...Can you imagine?? In the States you have to have bloodtests done before you get married right?? I wonder if they are ruling out "family ties" when they do the bloodtests?? Ok..Now you got ME thinking and I REALLY dont want to think right now..LOL |

Wasn't there a movie on this topic? Ted Danson and Whoopie Goldburg starred in it. Seems she had a daughter wanting to find her dad ans she was artificially inseminated. I just can't understand how someone would not want to know how their child was doing in the world. |

Kysta this is a good point and one that I have thought about often. The way things are going, before you even start dating someone, you're going to have to be tested for blood relation. It's sad really. I understand how desperate a person can be to have a child and I can understand their reasons for doing it, but I still have issues with artifical insemination. There are plenty of people that have multiple partners too though that end up pregnant and never know who the father is.... |

Release me, those are some other scenario's that would be a good reason to start the blood testing for family ties... promiscuity. |

Do I think they should? Yes, I think they should for other reasons than just this one. Release Me also brought up a good point. Look at a show like maury, it was a whos my daddy show lol, well they had one guy on there being tested who already had 7 other kids! Im from Wa. and hubby is from In. people travel and you dont know anymore just who you are related to. Then there are some who dont care. There was a couple that lived in the town I used to who were brother and sister, as were their parents and their parents. Thank god the last couple had 2 BOYS! sick sick sick..... |

Hi Lady Luck Sis! Yep, Ted Danson was a fast talking ladies man car salesman, in that movie. I think also in real life Ted Danson and Whoopie Goldberg were having a fling but then it turned bad when they pulled a bad-out-of-taste joke in black face. |

hmmm they still do blood tests? I never had one before getting married .....but it is sad to think that one could fall in love with a half sibling...and without a bood test actually marry a half sibling can you just imagine the emotional damage that could take place??.....that's awful.... |
