May 22, 2003 (Bentonville, Arkansas) — An Arkansas farmer says it's not his fault pot was growing in his pasture.

Benton County Deputy Tom Brewster says the farmer called the sheriff's department to report the illegal weed. The pot plants were up to three-feet tall. Brewster says the farmer had bought bales of hale that apparently contained pots seeds. Cows ate the hay over the winter and spread the seeds, which eventually sprouted.

Brewster says no charges will be filed -- and he's not revealing exactly where that pot was growing.

Date: 5/22/2003 4:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 61912    THC the active ingrediant in Marijuana has to be exposed to a paticular temperature for it to have psychoactive effects. You or cows cannont get high by simply eating it, it has to be cooked first or smoked......
Date: 5/22/2003 5:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 56927    It is actually useful for cows to be stoned. That way they can stagger around a field. You'd be hard pressed to find stoned cow who isn't staggering around field these days.
