Run With Me a Minute....................XoXo Shimmerkiss

Run with me a minute, or a minute and twenty seconds. Thats how long it took me to run my 400m race at the All Catholics track meet. ( For those of you who dont know, thats once around the track) Now follow me over here to the sidelines and watch. A minute doesn't seem long at all, but when your trying to beat 6 other people it tends to drag. Before the race started, my legs began to get unsteady and there were raging waves in my stomach. That was the best thing that was happening to me though. My mind was going a mile a minute ( no pun intended :p) I found my spot in the 7th lane ( I hate being on the outside so it was touch luck for me) and stood on the yellow line. The wind hit me, making even more goosebumps form on my legs and arms. It was about 50 degrese and drizzling as I stood there waiting for the gun. Finally, the coach shouted " On your mark, get set" And then the gun. I took my 1st two strides and all the nerves in my body turned to energy. Hardly noticing that hundreds of people had their eyes on me, I ran my race. My boyfriend and his friend were in the stands...with signs. His read *Go Laura* and his friends read * Run Faster*..as if I wasnt trying to. Thoughts ran thru my mind as I was running. *Its only one time around, thats all* * Almost done, I promise* and...*Geeze, its windy and this sucks* LoL, I had alot to think about. Anyways, by the time I rounded the last curve, I caught up to the girl ahead of me. I had her, then she pulled in front of me. This continued the whole way. I ran as fast as I could, my vision was blurred and my breathing was heavy. But I took all I had and tried to pass her. Then we crossed the finish line...and I dont know if I beat her. And I dont want to know. Im happy with what I did, I beat my personal best. Im a senior and sadly, I started track this year instead of 3 years ago when I should have. It was a good year, a good race, a good finish to say the least.

How it changed my life:

I didn't think I could do half of what I accomplished. But guess what? I can...
