An 18-year-old man has been charged with armed robbery and kidnapping after menacing his parents with a gun and a knife to force them to write him a check, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.
The incident occurred Friday morning at the Woodstock residence of Philip and Cheryl Goldstucker, said Deputy Nicole Ebbeskotte.
Justin Goldstucker, 18, who lives in Canton, entered his parents' house and confronted his mother Friday morning, according to a Cherokee County Sheriff's Office incident report. "This is the way it's going to be," the report says the man told his mother. "You're going to write me a check for $50,000 and I'm not going to kill you."
He produced a gun and forced his parents into the kitchen of their home, but during a struggle with his mother he dropped the weapon and she realized it was a fake gun. The report says Justin then pulled a knife from a sheath at his side and held it next to his mother's head.
Cheryl Goldstucker wrote out a personal check for $50,000 and Justin tied her to a chair, the report states. Before leaving the house, he told his parents that if they called the police he would kill them, according to the report.
But Cheryl Goldstucker was able to free herself and call 911.
Investigators developed information that led them to a residence near the parents' house to make the arrest that same day, Ebbeskotte said.
The investigators took out arrest warrants charging Justin Goldstucker with two counts of kidnapping, two counts of armed robbery and one count of theft. The armed robbery warrants say he was armed with a knife and a gun.
The theft warrant says that on May 7, Justin Goldstucker took his mother's platinum and diamond wedding set.
The suspect is being held at the Cherokee County jail without bond, Ebbeskotte said.
