(5/08/03 - OSSINING, NY) — Someone may have been trying to sneak into Sing-Sing -- perhaps to sneak people out.
The prison in New York went into lockdown Wednesday, after a man wearing a security guard uniform tried to get into the facility.
A spokesman for the New York Correction Department said officials at the prison had "some suspicions" about the man.
The man apparently told the real guards he was "new on the job" and would return to his car to "get the appropriate paperwork."
The man never came back. That prompted prison officials to wonder if his actions were part of an escape plan.
