Is it possible to have more than one religion and being total opposites.....MistySpirit

Hi everyone. Well I was wondering if you can have more than one religion but them being opposite. It's hard to explain but here it goes...

Well I grew up being a christian, as I got older I became a bit wiccan. Later I questioned (and still do) the existence of a superior being. Though if there is one I kind of go with the Catholic religion.

So now I'm totally confused and lost I dont know what to do. I'm really fasinated with the wiccan religion but I just cant see the idea of a GOD out there. Maybe it's me being naturally good at science and stuff or maybe I'm just scared and dont realize it. Some people have tried scaring me into becoming a Christian and attending their church but I just cant since I dont agree with the religion.

Can someone help me I'm so lost?

Date: 5/7/2003 8:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 57653    Yes it is possible. Though I'm not quite sure if you are interested in being 2 religions or if you are just confused about which ONE ...if any? I think you should just continue to educate yourself on both religions (and others)! You may find one that calls to you or you may be content without. Just keep learning and exploring!

Date: 5/7/2003 8:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 53961    As you grow older and learn more about religion, God and life in general and becoming one with whichever way you choose, you will know where you are to be. There comes a point when in order for us to progress on the road meant for us, that we must make the decision of where we are meant to be. We can not walk the fence of uncertainity forever and progress. To grow we have to gain a strong belief system; not only for ourselves, but for the future generations we are responsible for.
Date: 5/7/2003 8:48:00 PM  From Authorid: 54707    I agree with SilverFire. Continue to educate yourself with those and any other religions that interest you. As you learn more one may call out to you. Or you may choose to go without a religion. The choice is yours. But educate yourself before you make a choice.

Date: 5/7/2003 9:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 30647    Which one are you leaning more to? I don't know, because,I suppose you CAN be both but then, you wouldn't be going into Christianity all the way because I'm pretti sure Christianity believes dat you should only have that. It's like...kinda be into two religions, or really be into one religion?
Date: 5/8/2003 2:55:00 AM  From Authorid: 24934    One day you are going to die, we all are. Except if Jesus comes first. Your body will become dust, but your soul (who you are) will continue to exist, you will be awake for eternity, and there will be nothing you can do about it. There will be no such thing as suicide, one will not be able to cease their existance. The question is "where" will you spend your existance? As you know you did not create your existence, you did not create your soul, but someone did. You may not believe in God, but you should know that your dis-belief does not cease the existance of God. When you die and find yourself awake and in a different place, you will realize that someone put you there and that it was not of your own power. The point I want to make is that once you die there are no second chances. You have the opportunity NOW to secure your soul in a place that you want to spend eternity in. Stop waisting your time in what you want now, craving things that are worthless, first secure your soul in heaven, life is to precious and too short. Your soul is too precious to gamble away, Eternity is never ending. So stop, look around you, see the wonders of the world, the mountains, animals, beaches, humans, etc. look up in the sky and realize that all this did not just come into existance by a bang, but that it was created, we are created, and there is a Creator. Will you gamble your soul away for eternity just to have a few years on earth pleasing your desires? Making the wrong choices? So just dont think about the present, think about your future. Open your Bible, Nikeinlogos
Date: 5/8/2003 4:54:00 AM  From Authorid: 62118    Nikeinlogos - That only works if you're christian, it doesnt mean you're right. You can't back any of what you just said up, so why ram it in down their throat as fact?
Date: 5/9/2003 8:55:00 AM  From Authorid: 24934    Actually "RodTod" I can back up everything I said with "scripture" which is allways sufficient. Nikeinlogos
Date: 5/9/2003 9:18:00 AM  From Authorid: 62118    So as long as its written down you can call it fact?
Date: 5/10/2003 4:40:00 AM  From Authorid: 54461    Well hun, first of all. Nobody can change the way you think. I dont think its right for people to go against God, but God gave us all free will, and we are allowed to do so. Im going to tell you somthing that I know for a fact. There is a God out there. He is watching over us all, and he is powerful almighty. Let me tell you how we can know there is a God. Firstly. There are spirits in the World. If there were not spirits then that must mean we werent created. There are ghosts out there, thats proven. Secondly, we have the bible. There has never been a greater book than this. Most people may not believe in the bible, or some of it. But I tell you the truth. Most if not all the bible is real. It was written by Gods helpers like Moses, John, Paul. There are many more. These people witnessed all this back when God roamed the earth, and when Jesus roamed the earth. Jesus told warned everyone about hell. How do I know hell is real? Well, its in the bible, and Jesus said there was a hell, and its in a way proven that there is. Because people have reported on visiting such a place before they came back to life. Ok, Spirits, Ghosts, Spirit Guides, Angels, Evil Spirits, Demons, Satan, and God. All these things are very real, and most are proven, by being seen. Most may not agree with my little speach here, but you wanted help, and I am here to help you. Remember, I aint here to change you, God didnt attend us to change people, but Jesus told us to spread the gospel. And it is up to the people to believe what they want, because we have free will. All I say is, when it becomes time for are spirits to pass on to the other side- Heaven/Hell. Then we look to God. We look to God and have him save us. So I tell you the truth, there is no true Athiests out there, they all look upon God to help them after death, and to save there souls. Thanks for reading this. Lots of Love to you, and I hope you choose a path to follow. Its your choice, God gave you the free will, so now its all up to you. God Bless, and make a good choice. *KJ-52*
Date: 5/10/2003 8:45:00 PM  From Authorid: 39949    well said 24934....and to the author....there is a god, it does not matter if you believe in him.....an example is i might say i dont believe in the wind.....but its still there....god bless
Date: 5/10/2003 8:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 30051    I beileve everything Nikeinlogos just said. I do not think he/she was ramming that down anyone's throat.
Date: 5/12/2003 6:57:00 AM  From Authorid: 48809    You have asked if you may have two different religions Misty Spirit, but do you know what true religion is? True religion is not a set of manmade rules... as taught by the churches that serve only to hinder our beliefs and bind our souls! When we are held to certain creeds and dogmas , as demanded by most religions and when we are limited in what we may believe, then we have closed our minds to further revelations that can and do come from the next world yet today! True religion is to keep your mind open and free and to do whatever you can to help all those who are less fortunate than ourselves! There are those who are struggling daily through life and who may have no friends or resources. We can always smile and say a prayer for them and if they are in need of assistance for any reason, we should do what we can . These opportunities are presented to each one of us in this life and if we ignore them and pretend that we do not see them... then it is our loss.... We have then passed up an opportunity to help another person along life's way and to also take a step up the spiritual path for ourselves! I personally believe that there is a Supreme Being.. One who governs the universes with unchangeable laws ... one of which is ...whatever we do for or against others will ultimately come back into our OWN life for bad or good! There are no devils and demons... there never have been and there never will be. These are simply some evil people who once lived a very wicked and real life on the earth , just as we still have today! There are many very GOOD people in the other world as well! God alone has absolute power and has given us angels to help us in our daily struggles with life. The earth is the school of life and we are here to LEARN life's lessons. How can we learn and acquire new knowledge if we have limited our belief system by binding ourselves to one set of religious rules to live our life by? Were we limited in what we could believe when we were in school? Of course not, we were encouraged to learn as much as we could! You are free to believe whatever makes sense to YOU! If you pick what you want to believe in from a dozen different religions.. that is just fine and you are just as likely to get into heaven as anyone else is! I believe that God approves of those who think for themselves and who have not bound themselves to a set of rules from someone else. We must think for ourselves if we are to progress in this life and not rely on knowledge that was written 2,000 years ago ONLY for the people of those times. Since God is the same yesterday, today and forever .. then it stands to reason that He is STILL dispensing knowledge for the people of TODAY , just as He did all those long years ago! I wish you well on your spiritual journey!
Date: 5/12/2003 7:29:00 AM  From Authorid: 62118    Author 30051 - he was giving the impression christianity is fact and you should choose it over wiccan or any other religion just because he says so, if that isnt ramming it down your throat what is?
Date: 5/12/2003 1:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 54461    Posey, where isint there a Devil or Demons? If there are none, and there are just evil people, then there would be no reason for a Jesus. I know we all have our own beliefs, and you should keep yours. But I do think there is a hell, for really bad people, who know of God, but dont want nothing to do with him. And would rather do evil. *KJ-52*
Date: 5/12/2003 3:48:00 PM  From Authorid: 48809    KJ, you have asked me "where isn't there a devil and demons?" I rather suspect that you mean WHY isn't there a devil and demons? So I will assume this is what you meant to ask? To believe that God has unleashed a horde of so-called demons and devils upon His people to torture them endlessly ,is to say that God is cruel and vindictive and has created a separate race of beings to make life as miserable as possible for us! The angels say they have searched from the lowest realms to the highest and never have they come across any such beings at any time! What people claim to be devils and demons are NOT a separate race of beings..... but are instead those evil and wicked people who once lived their life on the earth committing many terrible and viscious acts of all kinds. Many have been in the same lower regions for thousands of years because of their awful deeds against others and will remain there ..until they have seen the error of their ways and decide to change. Some of these spirits are so terribly wicked that they in many cases have lost any resemblance to anything human and have instead sunk so low that they have regressed back to having crooked and twisted bones and bodies and low underslung jaws! These were and always will be beings that were once human and looked just as you and I do .... but they were never at any time created by God to torture any one of us as so many think! You may have been led to believe that when we cross over to the other side that it is not possible to "backslide" as some people call it , but it is very true that this is what has happened to some of these people who refuse to learn anything that the teachers tell them and instead go their own way ...just as they did while they were here. You said that if there are no demons and devils and only evil people that there would then be no need for Jesus. Of course there would be... Jesus came here to teach a simple lesson of love and forbearance and to demonstrate to us that we do indeed continue our lives in the next world and that life is eternal! Many have mistaken the reason for Jesus being here and have elevated Him to the same status as God! I know that many have been told that Jesus was sent here to save them from their sins, but we are each and everyone of us to be held accountable for our own errors and not one other person can do this for us... not even Jesus! What a mockery we would make of God's perfect laws of justice if this were so! This is one of the divine laws of God that is automatic in it's operation and cannot be changed as many who are depending for someone else to pay for their own misdeeds will find out to their sorrow! You said that you believe in a hell... I know many people do believe in a literal , fiery burning hell... but this is not true... how could one without sin and so Perfect as God commit such a terrible and unmerciful act?
Date: 5/12/2003 7:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 57355    Ok,I'm about to say something that will seem different, but NOT all Demons are "Evil".There are a few that are actually "Good" or non-evil, and there are neutral demons. -Quetz.
Date: 5/20/2003 6:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 43948    Haha ooh I was in your spot a couple years back! Wicca and Christianity beliefs kind of conflict, with the morals and values and all. If you feel (sorry to load the cheese here) in your heart that there is no such thing as a God (or at least the God described in the Christian faith), go with what is true to you. I tried to convince myself to believe in the Christian Religion, but no matter how hard I tried, it did not seem right. It felt like I was trying to force myself into something that I didn't belong to... If that makes sense. Honestly though, go with the beliefs that are true to you, and don't do it to please others. Because if you do that, then chances are you actually aren't believing in anything, you are just b-sing those around you and foremost yourself. And if people don't accept that, that's too bad. AND THERE IS SERMON!
Date: 5/20/2003 7:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 3125    Misty..There is just no way you could be a true Christian an also be of another religion. God sets the standards and teachings in Christianity and to be a true Christian one must follow the standards and teachings which God has given. One cannnot be a Christian and a Wiccan at the same time because God teaches against Wiccan practices. You cannot be a Catholic and also a Christian because Christ is the builder and the only Head of His church and the pope is the builder and head of the Catholics. If you want to be a 'Christian only' then I suggest that you study God's Word and attend/or have Bible studies. I don't think you can be a Catholic and a Wiccan either. I do believe the Catholics still teach against Wiccan practices.
Date: 5/22/2003 6:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 62132    If the 2 religions are contradicting...Like Wicca and Christianity...then i say you can study both but believe one. Besides if you're Christian and you practice wicca you would be going against christian faith. But continue to educate yourself and have fun. ~Brightest blessings~ Kitty Katt
