Authority says parents can't name baby Superman....Flame-On

(5/07/03 - STOCKHOLM, Sweden) — He may be the Man of Steel in the States, but Superman doesn't have much power in Sweden. At least not with the tax authority.

Aside from collecting taxes, the authority also oversees rules for names in the Scandinavian country. Officials have nixed the plan of a couple to name their baby Superman.

Mom says they wanted to name their boy David Rune Staalman Leisten. Staalman is Superman in Swedish.

Authorities say Superman isn't a suitable name because it could lead to what's termed discomfort.

The couple hasn't decided yet on an appeal. And there's no word on whether they've considered the name Clark Kent instead.

We called her Francois(not sure how it was spelled) and my sister named her daughter Rhiannon Luka(she is an 80'smusic freak) LOL
Date: 5/7/2003 6:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 53900    Oh sorry their son's were named Jeep and Clutch
Date: 5/7/2003 6:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 3125    Parents should let love for the child lead them. Would they like to have to carry that name around the rest of their life? Naturally if the answer is No Way, then they should consider another name.
Date: 5/7/2003 8:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 59418    i would hate to be called superman! Ugh, that would suck. Why cant they respect their kids? lol.
Date: 5/7/2003 9:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 8278    i totally agree with you all. parents need to keep their kids in mind when nameing them. i would hate to go through life named Superman! i do think it should be up to the parents what they want to name them, but they should think of how it will affect the childs life.
Date: 5/8/2003 12:44:00 AM  From Authorid: 57115    I hope they call it Clark Kent, then that way when the kid goes to school kids probably wont notice. But if it was superman the kid would probably be bullied. his friends might call him superman as a nickname tho, lol.
Date: 5/8/2003 6:37:00 AM  From Authorid: 57723    I think that is cute
Date: 5/8/2003 7:36:00 AM  From Authorid: 55689    lol cage.. red and green jello? I think the parents should take in consideration how the child will feel with a name like that.. but they should b allowed to name their own child whatever they want.
Date: 5/8/2003 7:45:00 AM  From Authorid: 17275    Why does the child need four names anyway? Isn't one first, middle and last enough?
Date: 5/8/2003 9:48:00 AM  From Authorid: 31154    They act like they should just be numbers or something
Date: 5/8/2003 10:03:00 AM  From Authorid: 62118    I have four names!
Date: 5/9/2003 6:20:00 AM  From Authorid: 62023    Why do parents torture their kids with silly names? Can you imagine when this poor child walks across the stage at Graduation and they call out his whole name? I'm not comfortable with the court systems dictating what you can name your kids - I would hope their relatives would talk them out of it!
