Do you think you may be possessed? Here's how to tell.... -- Mike

Sorry this will be quite long, but I have alot to explain here:

I read the most interesting book a while back, and it was quite disturbing as well. I picked it up for seven dollars at the local Barnes and Noble. It was titled "The Unquiet Dead: A Psychologist Treats Spirit Possession" by Dr. Edith Fiore. I had heard a bit about spirit attachments(partial possession) and such and wanted to learn more. I believe I've even had some personal experiences with it, as a recent post here on USM can attest to. I'm not quite sure whether or not it is real, it may all be in the subconscious mind, nevertheless it is very interesting, and quite terrifying. According to the book most spirit possessions are actually benign in nature (not demonic). Deceased people (murder victims, accident victims, suicides, etc.) hang on for some reason, they don't understand they are dead and they stay in the darkness, they don't understand the light, shun it, and may even fear it. So they end up attaching to people for some reason or another through the aura. This can have various effects on people, it can range from undetected to almost complete possession. Spirit attachment is always negative, even if the spirits are good ones. Because any spirit that isn't in the light isn't happy. Even if they were perfectly happy before they died. They're confused, they may have anger about what happened to them, they fear going to hell or confronting God, they may wan't revenge (if they were killed for example). This often creates feelings such as depression, anxiety, confusion, and anger in their hosts. People may think its demonic when it often is not. Demonic possession is actually very rare, but it does happen. That doesn't, however, mean its good for you. In actuality, since most people don't believe in possession, they fail to see these changes in themselves and think it is all perfectly natural. Assuming it is natural can be devastating. In cases where the spirit commited suicide in former lives, it may eventually result in suicide. Possession is actually very common, the reason it is unrecognized, is because most people just don't believe in it. People just don't talk about that kind of thing. This woman (the author of the book) has treated hundreds of "possession victims" with spirit releasement therapy and most of them fully recovered to live normal lives! Those that didn't usually had other disorders that may have mimicked possession. This book makes possession very believeable, and it may be real. Whether it is real or not, this is just incredible. Now, to get to what the title alludes to, here is a list of common possession symptoms from the book:

1. Low Energy Level

2. Character Shifts or Mood Swings

3. Inner voice(s) speaking to you

4. Abuse of drugs and alcohol

5. Impulsive behavior

6. Memory Problems

7. Poor Concentration

8. Sudden onset of anxiety or depression

9. Sudden onset of physical symptoms with no obvious cause

10. Emotional and/or physical reactions to reading The Unquiet Dead

Funny thing is, I've experienced all these (don't take drugs, but recently started drinking in reference to number 4). I also experienced number 10 (emotional). Being open-minded I consider it is possible; but also being rational, part of me remains skeptical. This would all refer to partial possession, also known as Spirit Attachment, don't worry, complete possession is very rare. This is another reason why you shouldn't try to contact spirits! So tell me, does this fit you or anyone you know?
