Date: 5/2/2003 5:01:00 AM  From Authorid: 44960    I am Not a religious person and I have no use for organised religion. I have been a victim of organised religion two times in my life, once as a child when a sunday shcool teacher cursed me out for not doing a sunday school lesson. The second time destroyed an 11 year marriage. My now ex-wife, came home from church one night to inform me that god had told her to sell everything she owns and that it was ok for her to leave me if I didnt support her and her beliefs. I never knew god was a homebreaker, thanks to religion, I watched 11 years of a beautiful marriage go out the door.
Date: 5/2/2003 6:23:00 AM  From Authorid: 19092    I'm confused, your a girl (in your profile) and your talking about your "now ex-wife"....maybe it's just to early, I'll come back to this post after a few cups of coffee....
Date: 5/3/2003 3:59:00 AM  From Authorid: 44960    King Caspian, I was born with Gender Identity Disorder. This means that I was a woman trapped in a mans body. I have been married twice and have 3 wonderful children. I have had the sex change surgery from male to female. I hope this explains. So see, I do have an ex-wife, in fact, 2 of them.
Date: 5/3/2003 2:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 10798    I was raised a Christian and been a Christian all my life..but I also LOVE Judaism and now attend a synagogue as well as church.
Date: 5/3/2003 2:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 10798    By the way, Miss Priss, I have a cat by that name and wrote a poem about here which is posted here at USM. Now, as for your experience with religion..please just keep in mind that God didn't do these things to you, people did. God and religion and not necessarily the same thing.
Date: 5/4/2003 10:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 42945    Well I was baptized a Catholic and my schooling was in a Convent, but upon growing up I find that more and more of what I was taught was unbelievable, dont get me wrong when I say that, but I do believe in God, its just the man made rules involved in religion that makes me think twice about the whole religious bit...and I do respect anyone elses view on what they believe in....hugs
Date: 5/5/2003 11:54:00 AM  From Authorid: 28989    I'm a Baha'i. We believe that the foundations of all religions come from God, so we respect all religions. I think that's what drew me to the Faith most of all, since I was tired of all the religious fighting and infighting. The central teachings of the Baha'i Faith are: the Oneness of God; the Oneness of Humanity; the Independent Investigation of Truth (investigate the religions thoroughly before you decide on your Path); the common foundation of all religions; the essential harmony of science and religion (religion without science is superstition, and science without religion can be dangerous); the equality of men and women; the elimination of prejudice of all kinds; Universal cumpulsory education; a spiritual solution to economic problems; and universal peace. Thanks for your post!
Date: 5/7/2003 5:27:00 AM  From Authorid: 62023    As a small child, my family was in the Pentecostal church. Later I was baptized as a Presbyterian. I have attended Catholic, Baptist, Methodist and Church of Christ. I am also exploring Friends and Unity Churches. Am I a confused Christian? Maybe, but I just want to be where I feel comfortable and can start meeting like-minded people. My search goes on. Right now, my prayers are done wherever I feel compelled to say them - in the car, while doing Yoga, mowing the lawn. I know it doesn't matter where you pray, but I still like the community feel of a church. I'm not bound by any religion, just want to meet new people.
Date: 5/7/2003 6:01:00 AM  From Authorid: 62118    When I was younger I used to go to sunday school, I hated it but when I got older I became a firm believer in God and the Bible. I never questioned God or the Bible then just one day I decided to look up some stuff up, it made be question my beliefs, it was the best thing I did. Most my beliefs made no sense and where unbelievable. My beliefs now are similar to buddism.
Date: 4/15/2005 11:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 12709    I USED to be Christian, but now I'm an atheist. As far as a reason, there are many, and I think you get the idea. =)
