Date: 4/29/2003 5:33:00 PM From Authorid: 17014 I would never have tubes put in a kids ears-- she won't be able to enjoy any water activities. There's got to be other options-- I'd get a (couple of) second opinion(s). |
Date: 4/29/2003 5:35:00 PM From Authorid: 33925 A friend of mine had her Son's ears done..He was having chronic ear infections..since having the tubes put in things have been much better..He has to go back every so often to have them replaced. I think the proceedure is fairly simple and shouldnt be too hard on your daughter. |
Date: 4/29/2003 5:36:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 46069 its not a permanent thing... i dont think.. i will have to check inot it someone... my chiro said that , it should be a last resort... cause to open it up like that to let it out.. also leaves room for more to go in , including infections |
Date: 4/29/2003 5:38:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 46069 I hope that isnt the case here Kel.. i don't want this to be a permanent thing for her... |
Date: 4/29/2003 5:55:00 PM From Authorid: 33925 His isnt permanent..seems to me she said when he reaches a certain age..cant remember what age..they will be removed permanently. |
Date: 4/29/2003 6:15:00 PM From Authorid: 17014 I've heard that sometimes tubes have made the situation worse. If anything only have a tube put in the ear that is deaf, if this is the last resort and that gel doesn't work. My parents opted not to have them put in and i hear just fine now. I used to have chronic ear infections and the lymph nodes in my jaw used to swell so bad they thought I had the mumps and that was when the doctors wanted to put in tubes, but my parents said no and I just kind of grew out of it. |
Date: 4/29/2003 7:11:00 PM From Authorid: 11341 I think it all depends on the person. I had my first set of tubes put in when I was 3. At 3 5 7 9 11 13 15 17 those were the ages I had them put in. The ones I had put in at 17 lasted until I was 25, they were what they call permanent. My ears are horrible, I have a hole running thru one of my ears now, it acts like a tube would, if I had insurance they would put one in the other ear. My son had a constant ear infection for the first 6 months of his life. They put tubes in when he was 6 months, and he has had 2 ear infections since then, he is almost 10 now. It was very scary to put a baby that young under, but I am so glad I did! Good luck in what ever choice you make. I would advise getting a second or third opinion before you choose. |
Date: 4/29/2003 7:22:00 PM From Authorid: 32193 i had tubes in my ear when i was like 2-4 years old... i dont rememebr them lol but they're suppoose to fall out by themselves... mine did lol and i think one of my sisters did and the doctor had to take the other one out... your daughter should only have them for a certain amount of time unless u get the permanent ones... good luck though! |

I have seen Chiropractic at its best. Please consider what your Chiro is telling you. I work at the best Chiropractic College in the world. I have come across all types of cases young and old. One patient did consider tubes for her 2yr old ears because of continuous ear infections. I begged her to consult with our doctors 1st. She did and thank GOD that she took thier advice. 3 yrs later and the child is tube-free with no ear infections. You got to love it. Please take the time to check out these websites 1st. I did a search on Chiropractic vs tubes in ear and a whole bunch of sites supporting Chiropratic popped up. http://www.icpa4kids.org/research_children_chiropractic_ear_infection.htm http://www.vilkelischiropractic.com/chiropractic_and_ear_infections.htm I hope this helps. ***yogi*** |
