*shrugs* .... well, for what its worth ... in the first thing you cited ... he was fined, and its not like he was selling drugs ... he was exaggerrating stock quality, and it was a civil suit, i am not really sure that jail time can be served in a civil suit .... as for the prayer ... kc, not everyone is a religious person. would you be comfortable changing YOUR lifestyle for a religion that YOU didn't belong to? probably not. just because its something that YOU do, doesn't mean everyone has to ...... as far as weapons of mass destruction ... remember that's how this started, of course other countries are upset .... we kicked out the u.n. inspectors (basically calling them incompetant because they didn't find womd that we just KNEW were there), we talked talk of sudam being a threat TO THE WORLD (even though we took over the entire country in a matter of less than 3 months), and then we went on criticizing other countries with our attitude of "we are saving the world from suddam while everyone else watches" .... so YES, i think that the complaint of other counties pointing out that we have YET to find womd is valid. |

In the first example, these people "stole" trillions of dollars from little people and got away with it. Stealing and dealing are crimes...In the second example, God is God no matter what name you give Him...and in the third mass graves are worse than mass weapons... |

Sexxy, I agree with you on everything but one thing. Yes, its everyone's right to choose what to believe in, but it almost seems(keyword seems) that when it comes to Christians, we arent even considered. I mean, with these new laws, they take away our freedom and right to pray, just as the old ones suppressed other religions.. Either way, people are going to believe in what they believe in, and sometimes emotions run high and even people of all religious standpoints get greif. As for Kc's post.. Its his opinion, and I am sure he knows that people arent going to always agree with him. He's a smart guy, as are you hehe *hugs* |

Oh boy! Great points King... Although I understand both views held by Amanda and SP. I have to say that regardless of my beliefs that I personally do not mind a prayer from whatever religion being done before a meal, at a stadium whichever. However, Amanda I think you are looking at it from the wrong perspective. It's not that the new laws are taking yours or anyone else's religion and right to prayer of that religion away. As a nation on a whole it has never been customary to use any other prayer than a Christian one. The Christian God is the one that people are subjected to. Our pledge of allegiance mentions God. It's on our money, it's in our court system. I myself have never been to a dinner at an event where a prayer was done before the meal and heard anything about any God other than the Christian God. The laws aren't saying you can't pray, you can always pray to your God on your own, no one can ever stop you from doing that. Other people just don't want to be subjected to it. Regardless of what I believe and what I don't believe I find the creation of new laws to be just as petty as the next person. I myself don't understand why people simply cannot take the word God and treat it generically as if they were praying to their own God. But unfortunately and obviously things aren't able to go that way smoothly. But just don't think that your right to pray is being taken away from you, no one can take that away. |

I agree with everything, especially the mass graves. America is about freedom, and we wouldn't be America if we didn't help others gain the freedom we have. The idea of America is freedom for all people, all religions, but somehow that idea has gotten confused since America's origins. Now the right to pray in public is under scrutiny, my niece cannot say the pledge of allegiance and include God in it, and she does love God, very much. If I pray in public nowadays, it is akin to infringing on another with words, a verbal assault to their ears that they can sue me for. In todays screwed up idea of America, it is possible to sue someone for them saying a prayer in their presence. Why? Because our laws say we can sue for emotional damage, or whatever its called, and someone can say that praying in front of them caused them emotional damage because they do not believe in God and felt I was forcing my ideals upon them. It's sad that the mass graves in Iraq are being looked over and people say, "But where are the weapons?" People are the greatest weapon this world knows, and when people are led by a monster, it is a monstrous weapon indeed. |

There is an arguement right now, before some courts, that a teacher is under fire for teaching the consitution in school, some people feel that is unconsitutional to do so. If we get to the point where the consitution itself is unconsitutional, then we are really in trouble. |

Az, no- I stated my opinion on such. My perspective on things are not wrong in my eyes, its just the way I think. That doesnt neccessarily mean that everyone else is wrong either. With people, things are interpretted the way the individual feels appropriate, and SP & everyone else has the same equal oppurtunity to feel as they want, think as they want on any subject that comes along. I may have a different standpoint on things, but it doesnt indicate in any way, that the standpoint is wrong. I am very open-minded, and I agree the laws should fit everyone, I just feel that if I person wants to pray they should pray. I, neither have been in many social settings where there was prayer before eating, but I have been in a few. My reply here, was just to give another tidbit on something to be discussed. I am but a amatuer debater as you may can tell, since my words are so oftenly mistaken.. lol. |

Amanda believe it or not I was trying to be nice. My stating that I think you are looking at it the wrong way wasn't to say that your opinion is wrong or that you are incorrect, it was more like a a C'mon champ look at the brighter side of this, they can't take something like this away from you. Somehow I just figured that was going to get taken the wrong way and I should have saved my energy. |

I'm with AZ. Its more of a tradition, since we first became Americans we started praying before we ate, to give thanx, I think it is part of our heritage, and if you can't give thanx to God, we can at least honour our forefathers by giving thanx a few times a year. |
