The front landing of this cathedral is haunted by the ghost of Prince Edward Charles Stuart, (Bonnie Prince Charlie), who is dressed in his best Jacobite attire. Charles came back to the church with his troops in December, 1745 to give thanks for his easy victories in the previous months. There is also the ghost of a White Lady seen coming down the back staairs of the church,and on the side of the church, the ghost of Derbyshire's executioner, John Crossland , is seen. Formely a criminal himself, he was given pardon if he would personally execute his brother and father. That he did and went on to become one of England's busiest executioners.
