Plant rights

There is a alot of stuff in the Georgia General Assembly about animal rights and how its a felony to harm an animal (something like that). I know in florida you can't harm sea turtle eggs or other junk.

Anyway, the point is: why don't plants have rights?! Why aren't there plant's rights activists?! They may now have feelings and brain, but they still are living! I've always wondered this.

Date: 4/28/2003 5:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 36967    oh, PLEASE, do not give anybody these kind of ideas. That is all we need, all this nation needs is plant rights activists. If we have an organization for plant rights, and pushing their ideas on us, then I will hold you totally responsible for this.
Date: 4/28/2003 6:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 2030    I think all living things are sacred except liberal Democrats.
Date: 4/28/2003 6:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 17014    LMAO BCAR-- I agree
Date: 4/28/2003 6:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 17014    Environmentalists practice plant rights along with saving trees.
Date: 4/28/2003 6:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 17014    It is illegal to pick pond lillies and whatever flower represents your state.
Date: 4/28/2003 6:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 10722    Wayyy to ridiculous, what would be next after plants? fungus and mold spores?
Date: 4/28/2003 7:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 58681    There was an experiment some years back where a scientist attached electrodes to the leaves of a plant. He approached the plant with a lighted match. The equipment recorded alarming sounds as the flame got nearer the plant. He proceeded to try it again and, to his astonishment, the plant reacted before he lit the match. The plant could 'read' his intention. It is also on record that grass screams when you mow it. Cheers GA
Date: 4/28/2003 9:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 36079    Cheers, that is just really freaky, I will never look at mowing the lawn the same way again. I knew that trees supposedly transmit electrical currents or something through there roots to eachother, some say its a mode of communication. Id be interested to find where those facts came from? I never heard of pond lillies, but yeah your state flower or plant you can not mess with as well as the state bug and bird. Our state bug is the praying mantis, I have ran over them before in the driveway, I have to look both ways and throw it in the grass and hope I didn't get caught! But there are organizations to stop cutting down the rainforest and other various places in the world, have you seen dr. doolittle 2? People come together to save forests for endangered species.
Date: 4/28/2003 9:40:00 PM  From Authorid: 36079    how can grass scream? do they have vocal cords somewhere, man, I think ur really just messin with my head! lol
Date: 4/28/2003 9:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 58681    Smurfpoo it's not like a scream as we know it. It's an electrical impulse which, when emits a signal. The signal is translated into sound by the receiver. It was on the tv years ago. The sound is rather like a high pitch whine. Cheers GA
Date: 4/28/2003 10:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 51979    Well..ehhh, you see...I dont even think animals should have as many rights as they do. When you get to plants, it is just perpostorous.
Date: 4/28/2003 11:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 62116    Grass emits a high-pitched whine? I better go get my mower out of the shop. I thought the output shaft bearings were going bad... it was the grass the whole time! ~Nytwolf~
Date: 4/29/2003 9:16:00 AM  From Authorid: 61928    It's too late, we've got tree huggers.
Date: 4/29/2003 9:37:00 AM  From Authorid: 57404    That's freaky about the grass! I know they did a test on roses a few years back. And roses scream as well when you cut them. Like the other poster said, it is a high frequency pitch that is released. I'm Part Cherokee, and I was raised, all living things have a purpose. I'm not shocked about the plants knowing the scientists intentions. Still it's creepy LOL Tree's are plants from what I understand.. so treehuggers are plant activiest I guess. LOL God Bless
Date: 4/29/2003 1:26:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 52140    I didn't mean I just wanted to know why people fight for animal rights and not plants.
Date: 4/29/2003 1:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 56910    LOL BCAR. I could say the same thing about conservative republicans.
Date: 4/29/2003 7:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    arnt there?? "save the rainforrest" people and such?? vegetarians who only eat stuff that has actually fallen from the trees and is actually dead??
Date: 4/29/2003 8:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 22080    plants have people protecting them all the time
Date: 4/29/2003 8:59:00 PM  From Authorid: 22080    vitaldeath why do you think animals have to many rights? last time i checked there was no bag limit on wolves here in alaska cause they are a "pest"...who was here first?
Date: 4/30/2003 7:44:00 AM  From Authorid: 36967    There were 3 major natural disasters in the 20th century, you got a meteor hit in Siberia in 1908, you got an earthquake in Alaska in 1968, and then Mount Saint Helen blew off it's top in 1980, all three of these disasters had destroyed, more trees, plants and land, than the logging industry in it's entire history. Guess what those area's now are doing just find, infact, you can hardly notice that anything happened at these places, that is according to the Answers in Genesis organzation. With this in mind, how can these extreme, wacko enviromentalists be so concerned about a man with a chainsaw?
Date: 4/30/2003 8:23:00 AM  From Authorid: 54532    because its different. but i think that people should stop destroying the rainforest.
Date: 4/30/2003 1:51:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 52140    DrkPrts. 1st, what does your name mean, I've been wondering that for almost a year. 2nd. I didn't write this as an extremely radical environmentalist, I was just wondering why animals get rights and the very producer of our life (trees=oxygen) gets hardly anything... I don't really care about the environment. i just try not to litter and stuff like that. I just thought that if animals should have rights that plants should too. And thanks to anomoly I'll be fighting for fungus and spores when Im president
Date: 4/30/2003 7:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 22080    drkptrs we have no control over over meteors and earthquakes, we do have control over how many trees we cut down, read up on hemp it grows faster and 1 acre of hemp equals something like 5 acres of trees, im not talking about the hemp that contains delta-9 tetrahydrocannibinol but industrial hemp that you'd have to smoke a joint the size of a telephone pole in one second to get high
Date: 5/1/2003 11:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 51979    Well Jestr in my beliefs we were given dominion over them. And see now animal rights people are complaining because we are testing stuff on pigs to make sure it is safe for us. Then their are those protestors...
Date: 5/3/2003 8:51:00 AM  From Authorid: 22080    i find it kinda wrong to test on animals not for the fact its "cruel" but because they are not us, a pig can eat things humans would never think of and are also vulnerable to diseases that we are not, why are we testing on animals when there are inmates in prison for life or on death row
