I know what you mean I was appalled by what I saw on this show....I just wanna scream at that mother...she is totally clueless and is absolutely retarded if she thinks that little girl is safe just cause she is online. AND how are they sending clothes to that little girl if they do not have any address? I am just stunned that parents would allow their children to do this and those pictures were not innocent. My daughter would never pose like that for any person regardless of what she was doing it for...  |

Jon Benet opened my eyes to the world of child modeling. The whole thing is totally stupid. The exploitation of young girls does nothing---nothing---for them, and may be very, very damaging. Let them play sports. Let them do things that stimulate their minds and develop them; in short, let them do things they know they are doing for their own good! These kids have no idea what they are doing. That is damaging enough. If they ever find out WHY they are dressed seductively and pose in such ways at that young age, that is even MORE damaging. As obvious as it is that there are a bunch of old men leering over this young girl, I have to be quite honest, if my college that I'm currently attending had already been paid for by taking a few pictures of me in nice clothes when I was seven, I'd be under a lot less stress to make the rent and pay for school. I think displaying young children on the internet is entirely inappropriate and should not be allowed. I can't imagine any parent that would think this is something to be encouraged, no matter how much money a child is bringing in! It does seem sometimes that those who are doing this are letting their greed overrun their common sense!  |

I see your point but... children are put on display in movies, tv, magazines, all forms of adverstisement, etc. It's not fair to assume that just because it's on the Net, that its bad because it gives access to perverts all over the world. These same people are looking at children in every facet of media. If we're going to go down this road and say that we need to protect our children, then I say take children out of the media all together.  |

Author, your suggestion is a good one and perhaps after all , it would be far better to just eliminate children from the media altogether if we are to have any hope of protecting them from the predators that seem to be everywhere, although I think that might be very hard to do since the people who do this seem to haunt schools and daycare centers etc. too!! I personally think that the ones who go after these little children should be more severely punished than they usually are ... but sadly, whatever the punishment , there will always be those who will still continue their evil ways! |
