"When I almost drowned, there were three little angels." My neice Amanda, then three, tells her story.
Even though its been nearly four years now, if you ask her about it, she will tell you there were three angels that 'held her up.'
It was July 3rd, 1999, and my family had gathered at the lake for an INDEPENDANCE DAY celebration.
All of us were out in the water, swimming, laughing, soaking up the sun. There was my three neices, my two sisters, my husband, brother in law, and my two dogs.
It was quite a peaceful day. With the Texas sun blistering hot, tanning skin with its rays of sunshine. Music was jamming, families were barbequing, people throwing frizbee.
My nephew Christopher and neice Amanda were inside the 'boat raft'with my sister Michelle standing there with them, pushing them softly around the cool waters.
I started heading back to shore for a 'time out' when I heard a horrorfying cry, "OH MY GOD MY BABY, MY BABY!"
My first thought out of (almost) embarrassment, was 'I bet that was my family.'
Sure enough, it was my sister Michelle. Amanda had thought to herself, "I think I will take a dive in!" (the water was about four feet deep.)
The people in the lake and around the lake heard the screams and cries and everyone stopped what they were doing and IMMEDIATELY rushed to help in the aide of recovering my neice. People began to search the nearby water for any sign of the little red headed girl.
What must have been 60 seconds felt more like 30 minutes. I was about to give up hope when, "POP!" Out of the murky waters comes Amanda's little head. Her eyes were rolled back in her skull and she was delirious, but she was breathing. My husband grabbed her out of the waters and handed the precious little baby to her Mother. My sister Michelle was still wailing with freight.
Michelle took her to the shoreline and held her in her arms, crying and thanking Jesus.
Later that night when reliving the story, Amanda would tell her mom this: "You know when I almost drownded mommy?"
"Yes Amanda?"
"Well there were three little girl Angels that were holding me up. They were smiling and telling me that everything was going to be okay. Then they PUSHED me up out of the water, and thats when I saw you."
Upon hearing this story I shivered with delight. MY BABY NIECE was saved by three little girl angels that she WITNESSED! What a miracle!
At times I will ask her about the 3 little angels and she will always tell me the same thing. "Yep. There was THREE of them, and they HELD ME UP so I wouldnt drown."
The story NEVER changes. It ALWAYS stays the same. THANK YOU JESUS for the ANGELS that surrounds my little sweet neice! Thank you Jesus for ALL the times you have spared my family from tragedy!
