Has anyone had success with the Dr. Atkins diet>??

I am trying to lose the fat around my midsection for summer, and i was wondering if the Dr. Atkins "low carb" diet actually works. I'm a bread-fanatic so it's asking a lot for me to give up my carbs, but if it works i'll be willing to do it. So if you or someone you know have had any success with this diet please let me know. Thanks!

I will ask her what the reasons were for making her give up the diet on Monday. Will post her response on Tuesday...

It totally controls your eating habits. Once you get hooked, it's like a drug, you're body will never recover to normal eating habits... guess that's not necessarily a bad thing though.

Date: 4/25/2003 8:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 39370    Yes! I'm on it right now! I've been on it for a out a month have already lost about 10 or 15 pounds (I think thats how much it is). And as far as this diet being unhealthy, as long as you take vitamins everyday, you'll be perfectly fine!

He didn't take the correct supplements which will help eliminate the cravings. He's getting back on it though since it worked well for him. Good luck! :0)

I have recently had my stomach stapled and so I have to eat very low carbs and high protien it has not had a negative affect on me . I can not say if I have lost weight because of it or not because of the surgery. I also from experiance know that diabetics have to eat in ways similar to the atkins diet. My friends mom lost about 85 pounds on it. Dr. Atkins death had nothing to do with his diet. The man fell and hit his head a few weeks earlier and his brain swelled. I say there is not any reason to fear the diet in my opinion and if you are only trying to loose a few pounds I say ask your Doc and go for it. ...

I as a diabetic had to take in high protien low carb so is the diet that is given to diabetic patients unhealthy? I am not trying to win my point I just want to understand better. thank you. ...
