No, not just words, these are people's beliefs, and they are entitled to such just as you are. |

Great Post King Caspian.. It's amazing how people dismiss the importance of words until it serves their own need. Just as people dismiss God until He serves there need. As a believer, I see sins of the world multiply every day, and as a sinner, I ask forgiveness for committing those same sins that others do. The difference in a believer and a non believer is not sin, it is being sorry for that sin. It is sad seeing the world in such a state. Great Post, got me thinking. Love ya, Big Monkey Hugs!!! |

I enjoyed reading your thought provoking poem. Funny how all this 'new' technology world and time we live in has made humanity and God seem farther away for so many. Many have forgotten the Golden Rule or changed it to fit their lifestyle. Very good writing, King Caspian and thank you for sharing. |

Evil and sin can also hide behind words like "beliefs".... |

King, everyday I mess up and sin. Doesn't make a difference if it's a little sin or a big one as a girlfriend once explained it, sin is still sin. I talk with Heavenly Father everyday and try to be good, even though I veer from the straight and narrow. I do ask for forgiveness and hope my Lord accepts my apologies and will still love me. I won't know untill my final judgement if I messed up too much. |

I think inside Penny, you know....I mess up all the time too. That's why we need the salvation offered by Jesus. No one was ever saved by the law...just by your answer and the display of knowing right from wrong, and seeking forgiveness...there's no doubt in my mind... |

The problem is, people are often unable to tell them apart. When other religious veiwpoint's and beliefs are belittled by small-minded people in 'the name of god', all people of that religion become painted in the same light, nearly always unfairly. |

That's true Tandriss. Isn't there a verse somewhere that a man is known by the deeds he does, no matter what clothes he wears? I've seen some godly scoundrals and some shallow Godly men. Thanks You Guys. |

Exactly. I know many good-hearted christians who do not rain down the speeches of frie and brimstone upon those who are not of their faith, and they get far more people to listen to them that way than by telling them that they are going to hell because thier beliefs are all sins. I myself have many christian friends who are tolerant of other people's beliefs and let them ask questions of them, rather than forcing them to listen. Its too bad that there are always people that mis-represent every group, be it religious or whatever. |

The church has always fought Science; and progress, in all areas. The church opposed innoculations, vaccinations; opposed research; opposed birth control; opposed those who dared to seek the truth about the ever evolving natural world, especially if it presented questions or opposition to their Bibles. Galileo was vehemently opposed and imprisoned, and Darwin was labeled a quack and a fool. Numerous religious fundamentalists make no secret about their intentions of overthrowing the Constitution, by trying to get public schools to teach and endorse religion. They define wickedness....not according to what a person does and how he conducts himself and his life, but according to what a person...BELIEVES. (How evil is that?). Someone who is an atheist who lives an upright, moral and noble life is nevertheless considered "wicked and evil". "End times" , doomsday and fear mongers prey upon the humankinds natural curiosity to know the future. With the mentality of "Don't need to worry about ecology because Jesus is coming soon", they stiffle and encourage lazy, unmotivated people to just sit back and WAIT for "The Lord to provide" and be rewarded in "heaven". The lies and manipulations and racism and bigotry.....are all hidden behind soothing, sweet sounding words, like "Blessings" and love and forgiveness, and the promises of eternal life in heaven, and the like. To lie, twist, revise, reconstruct, the truth....to fit the doctrine, and further the myth. THAT....is: evil. |

Hello Thinker, from a "christian perspective" anything that leads people to hell is evil...from yours, anything that leads people to the saving grace of Jesus Christ is evil...I doubt that we'll ever see "eye to eye" on anything. But I still consider you a friend and welcome your replies. |

Now, KC, come on. How could I consider "anything that leads people to the saving grace of Jesus..." to be evil; since I DON'T BELIEVE IN JESUS?? My dear, I am going through a horrible time right now, and it is because of religion; it is because members of my own family have gone WAY OFF THE DEEP END with religiosity, and will not even talk to me, as they consider me to be "evil" and the "devil". There is a freaking war within the family, and ALL because of this "jesus christ" is all they care about; so why, whatever in the world would I be FOR such craziness? Were it not for religion's GRIP on their minds, there wouldn't be any of this crazy turmoil. Think about it!!! Just because I do not believe THEIR way; they consider me to be "evil". Why wouldn't you see THAT as evil? Huh?? |

One of the last and by far the greatest commandment given by our Lord Jesus Christ, John 13:34; ...new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. I am sorry that some who profess Jesus treat others so wrongly. We're not all like that...but we all slip from time to time. I also, in the past, have not treated others very well, I displayed my weakness... |
