I saw it on t.v., too and I thought it was a bit bizarre to think that a machine could detect what a baby's mood is. If it were say only about 12 bucks and at Walmart, more than likely I would buy it, but not rely completely on it. It's an interesting concept that they came up with, although I am not sure if it's the really correct way to detect a baby's mood. Motherly instinct should be used instead. |

I suppose it is possible, but I doubt a baby's cry COULD be translated! |

Wasn't that a Simpsons episode? I think It could work though. I mean you always here parents going "If only I knew, If only I knew" when something happens to their baby. We are in the age where parents are starting to neglect their kids more and more in favour of careers so I think any help the mother can get is a blessing. It shouldn't be relied on but like anything it could have it's uses! |

WHAT exactly are they trying to do? Simple. Make money by selling this crap to people gullible enough to buy it. No "machine" can detect what a baby wants or needs. The only basis on which this could work is on the assumption that we now have a "code for cries" or some such that every baby makes for what it wants. HOGWASH and STEER DIRT I say. ~GypsyHawk~ |

I personally think that this would not work, i mean, how do they knoe if the baby cant really talk? Do they say to the baby 'now then, give me a hungry cry.......THATS the one!'. Really. Babys cry, sometimes for nothing, its a fact of life. A machine can never know what the baby wants, i think that women have the advantage of being able to have looked after offspring since the dawn of time, thats one hell of a lot of experience!. Anyway, enough of my ranting and raving. collisl |

Another new thing which is soon to be on the consumer market is a device which tells you the mood of your pets. |

As for your question, I have no doubt that such machines could work even if on a limited level. |

Like the other poster said.. Babies cry for no reason. And if there is a mode, where it shows sad. Of course it will show sad.. babies cry when they are sad. lol LOL@ Frankenstein. I know when my pet is upset, when my cat knocks the heck outta me. I realize.. she is upset! LOL But you people buy this stuff. God Bless |

Thank you all for responding. I however, disagree that babies cry for no reason. They most certainly cry for reasons. Even if it's just for attention. Sometimes they just wanted to be held. I know that one for a fact. As far as this machine working, I'm sure that people would buy it. Simply because they have exhuasted the other methods and don't know where else to go. I personally think it's mistake to rely on a machine like the one I'm talking about. As far as parents neglecting their children. A machine would not help them. They would ignore the child whether there was a machine or not. Neglect is a state of mind. Something that they do out of laziness or uncaring. A machine wouldn't help that. |

I do think that the mother's intstinct is important but I do not htink that they are trying to take mothers out of the equasion. I think that if it did work them it would make our lives a little bit easier. |
