Respecting Our Youth!-----Moon Girl

In a group of young adults I worked with today told me something! Our youth have alot of fears & built up frustrations! More moodiness & tears & stress! We as adults have been through enough of the world to have hardened our skin! But our youth are just learning the truth of the ugliness of the world. It's hard for them! They had questions I just could not answer! No one would have the answer. What we can give them is hope & love!

When I had a 20 minute briefing with their parents, they all said the kids level of stress & fear have gone up since the war. Take a 17 year old boy the youngest of 4 brothers! He is worried his brothers will be sent over to the war & killed, & he will be 18 in 2 months.! He is also frightned for himself.

In some ways it has made kids get closer to to their families. Yet the fear remains!

So reach out more to our youth & try & give them support when they need it! I know I will! The youth of today is our leaders of the future!

Date: 4/3/2003 8:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 21435    I like your views on this, Moon Girl. Our world is so fast paced. (Much more so than when I was a teen) I agree 100%. The young ones need our understanding and guidance from the time that they begin to comprehend things. It's so much harder trying to mold a young adult, than it is a child. But, we have to try anyway. For all our sakes. Great post, Moonie. Write on..

Date: 4/4/2003 8:17:00 AM  ( Admin-FA )   My dad and I were argueing yesterday when he got home from work he told me to respect him because he's my dad, I do respect him but I said to him that he should respect me and he said it doesn't matter I have to respect him. Makes me think if I'm really respected at all sometimes by him. I being 17 have been stressing over college and graduating and school and my job and just trying to keep pushing along even though I want a break and not have to worry about school, college, my job, graduating, and to please everyone. Thanks Moon Girl you have a wonderful heart.. I hope it opened up a lot of parents eyes.. *HUGS*
Date: 4/4/2003 6:01:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    teenagers in the 70's were worried about that same thing and the 60's every war that has happened young people were worried over the war.. i admit young people now have different fears about different things... but older people should be respected just as much as the young...i think people have to be more considerate in general....
