Since so many have asked how I am doing and are keeping me in their prayers, I just thought I would send an update on my health situation.
I am still plagued with congestive heart failure and cardiomyopathy and continue to strive for improvement in this area.
I have been going to my infusion clinic three days a week for the past two months where I receive a five-hour IV heart medication. The whole procedure takes about six hours and wipes me out for the duration of the day. My cardiologist has been adjusting my meds with the hopes of someday weaning me off this IV.
Today I saw him and he doubled my beta-blocker and one of my blood pressure meds. In two months he wants to do an echocardiogram to see how my pumping strength is. I asked him if there was a chance I could eventually get off the IV. He says if we get better results with the oral meds then maybe so. We'll just have to wait and see. So we pray for that.
I also saw my pulminary specialist today and he gave me more meds for sinus problems and drainage. My sleep study was not conclusive for sleep apnea as I apparently only slept for 95 minutes. This has been a real problem with me as my sleep patterns are all messed up. The meds make me sleepy at the wrong times and awake at the wrong times.
I feel like a walking pharmacy at times with all the things I take, but if they work, then we continue.
I am feeling better than before I went in the hospital in January. Sitting for a period makes my upper back hurt. This seems to be an affect from one of my meds.
I am still not running any races and tire easy. I have a legal size "to-do" list that I do in my mind. I am thankful I have this time to do tasks that I can do, at a leisure pace, like genealogy and writing. I am going to start charging the dust rent as it seems to think it belongs here.
Spring is here and it is beautiful. I hope to be able to get out and do some yard work if the energy kicks in. I am looking forward to Calla coming home soon for her summer break. It gets kind of lonely around here since she has been gone and I had to find a new home for our pets.
I thank you for your thoughts and prayers and still have hopes of someday returning to somewhat of a normal lifestyle. Meanwhile, we just carry on at the present rate and are grateful for the advances that comes regular in the heart disease area.
God bless you all and take care.
Love, Hugs and Butterfly Kisses,
Paula
