Our USM-ers & their Families/Friends in Iraq... YES WE CAN ALL agree on some things!

  Author:  15394  Category:(USM Events) Created:(4/3/2003 8:09:00 PM)
This post has been Viewed (1422 times)

**Scroll down for list of Coalition members, USM members and gist of post!!

**I would like to acknowledge author 11721 Brina WV, she had a post like this before I posted this, and I didn't see it, she obviously had a great idea! Read on to identify with my reasons for this post!! :)

With world events as they are, and USM being a global community of every generation and mind-set, many of us are on on different sides of the issues.

I think regardless of which side of the coin you choose, a few common threads exist that EACH of us can whole heartedly identify with:

We can ALL say that people dying prematurely, by an un-natural cause is sad, and regrettable...

We can ALL say that we hope our loved ones come home safe, regardless of belief of whether they should be there in the first place...

We can ALL say that we hope the innocent residents of war torn countries remain safe as well...

We all know someone that knows someone that either lives there or has a family member or friend there as a member of coalition forces. *(I think)

Coalition members include many nations... being as USM is a Global Community, I would be very curious to know who we have here on USM that has family in Iraq or Kuwait as residents, or that has military family somewhere in the theatre...

I thought it was interesting to see the member list of the countries involved in one way or another. The White house has listed the members of the "Coalition of the Willing" ... they are as follows:

Afghanistan, Albania, Angola, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Mongolia, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, Palau, Panama, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Ruwanda, Singapore, Slovakia, Solomon Islands, South Korea, Spain, Tonga, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, and Uzbekistan.

Contributions from Coalition member nations range from: direct military participation, logistical and intelligence support, specialized chemical/biological response teams, over-flight rights, humanitarian and reconstruction aid, to political support.

The population of Coalition countries is approximately 1.23 billion people.

So here we are USM, a member of a LARGE community that is both surreal because it is "Virtual", yet so very real as many of us have developed friendships that dig much deeper than a simple computer taggie could possibly convey. We sit watching, each with our own view, but with the common thread of humanity as our basic common "Life line".

Did I miss it or is there a post of our Members that are active there somewhere, on USM? I saw the post for a message to the troops, which I thought was awesome, but is there a post listing who all we have there as to members or family members of members?? :)

I would like to use this post to list the Members and their Family Members/Friends serving in the theatre... Names on line isn't safe so I would like to list the relationship to our member...IE: I would list USM ID#/nickname - relationship of family/friend serving/living in Iraq (Husband wife daughter son cousin etc)... and if possible, where they are serving.

I think of them all the time as do many many people world wide, it would be nice to recognize those directly involved...

Thanks for your thoughts on this... regardless of our viewpoint, there are things we CAN ALL agree on. Now is the time to draw on the energy of that common thread.

If you wish your loved one to be listed, please leave a reply so I have your usm id# and your nick name... Tell us the following:

Family/Friend relationship to you- IE husband, wife, son, daughter, cousin etc. Which branch they are serving in ... or the city they live in... or where they are serving if possible to disclose...
