Raises hand, my son is in Iraq right now and yes we are worried, not because I fear him getting hurt but because I fear for his mental state of mind, that HE may have to hurt someone and have to live with that for the rest of his life. I fear for what my childs eyes may see. |

Stormchaser, that is EXACTLY what I worry about with my husband. I wonder how this will change him and if he will be the same person when he comes home. I can't tell you the stress he was under before he left. he told me Sunday that he'd had young soldiers so scared, family members coming up to him in hysterics...He said the 1st Gulf War he was just a young sgt and didn't have to worry about anyone other than himself and his buddys. This time he has about 25 very young soldiers he is in charge of. The stress of it all I'm afraid is going to take a heavy toll on his health down the road. When he came home after the first war, i was totally amazed at how much that aged him. He is no longer a "spring chicken" so to speak (38), so I can only imagine how much this will age him. |
