A soldier dressed in uniform
Gone off to fight a war.
Fighting for peace and freedom,
A true real life warrior.
Whether you’re on the US soil,
Or in a foreign land.
God is watching over you,
Lending a helping hand.
Left behind is your loved ones,
To carry on the daily chores.
Never once forgetting about you,
Remembering the faces they adore.
Our prayers will always be with you,
Keeping you safe from harm.
Waiting for the day,
We will greet you with open arms.
I can’t begin to tell you
What it means to me.
That you put your life on the line,
Fighting for America and me.
A soldier dressed in uniform,
Back home on solid ground.
Stands tall before you smiling,
Knowing he’s safe and sound.
You are our American heroes,
Who makes us really proud.

And the freedom you have allowed.
