the girl ,held it in her hand,
trying hard to understand,

he was young ,such a good man,
he had his life already planned,

for he was to marry her ,
the shy sweet girl,

the unborn child,she carried,
a secert, kept, til they were to marry,

war ,called him away,to a far away place
and in his letters,he did write,
when i return you'll be my bride,

with each letter,she cried,
please return,to be by my side,

her secert,was revealed one day,
when her child was well on the way,

her parents,cryed in shame,and
tryed to hide the disgrace,

sent her to a unwedded mothers place,
and the boy wrote,a letter once more
as he had so many before,

but this letter would be his last, for the boy was
fading fast, life is no more for me,
another sun raise i shall not see
but do this ,just for me,
tell my unborn son not to weep,

for a father who he never knowed,
just tell him how i loved him so,

stand tall,be proud and free,
for this is worth my death, please agree

30 years later, she held the tattered letter,
once more,as she sent her only son off to war,

with tears in her eyes, she kissed him good bye
