I Know! I hate scanners, I have had the same problem. I have read the whole book and still I cant get the thing to work right. I wish I could help but I'm in the same boat with you! LOL  |

I hate scanners that connect via USB ports. My old one was like that and it didn't matter which one I plugged it into (I had 2 of them). Have you tried going to the manufacture's website and looking at their FAQ page? Sometimes, they have good tips depending on what brand you're using.  |

It doesn't matter which port you use,also make sure the scanner is on before boot your computer that is the normal reason for the "scanner not initialized." error  |
