Since friday we (our class) has been working on a project for Biology that's due tomorrow. I was in a group with two other people, one of whom I've worked with twice before and though we all got A's on the projects he waited until the last minute and I had to cover for him.
During even doing the experiment he's having problems, he wants to spend 30 minutes doing his section as a group rather than him doing his section and me and the other kid doing the other 2/3s (we divided it because he has trouble doing everything so we took the larger and harder half while all he has to do is make a chart). He gets really aggrivated that we aren't helping him and yells at us all. I missed three days of school and can still do this better than a kid whose been here the full week. And he does understand it, he just hates doing things by himself. One time he called my house at 9:30 and I pretty much wrote three pages of his book report!
Well we help him, the class is almost over before we finally let him do what he wants to do, which gets him the wrong answer and he has to redo it. Meanwhile me and the other kid somehow manage to finish our section. So then the kid tells us "if you give me your data I can scan the charts and e-mail them to you so you don't have to rewrite them". I figured sure because he has about five days to get it to us and he says he'll send it by Saturday.
He never sent it.
Fortunately, I held onto some of the data so I can do parts of the project. Today he says, can I see that data because I need it to do the lab and I looked at him and said "No! This is the only part of the project I can do because you never sent the information that me and the other kid spent the whole class doing. So either send it today and I'll give you the information or you get to fail with the rest of us". He goes into this 10 minute speech on how his scanner broke and he can't send it so I said "How can we prevent that? We held up our end of the deal and you haven't sent us anything."
In the longrun, I never got the information. I wrote the parts of the project I could without the stuff he had, and am going to get that information from another friend in the class. The debate is how do you get people to stop procrastinating things and to get teachers to believe you? None of the teachers believe this, or do they believe that he made everyone else in the group for History make his poster which he took credit for! So how do we go about getting him to stop and getting people to pay more attention.
