Its a very rare occasion when I pick anyone up. If's its a girl yes I do stop and pick her up. No telling what perverts are out there besides me! No really I would not try anything. If its a guy and I have my pickup he can ride in the back unless it is raining or freezing cold. You would be suprised though. I have one friend who lives not far from here. I picked him up one day when he was walking home from where he stuck his truck at in the woods. I didnt know him at the time but now we a good friends. It really depends on the person who picks up what. But a young girl should not hitchike at all. Never. |

I still pick up the occasional hitchiker. I wont pick up the scary or dirty looking type. I do however pick up young people who are obviously students hitchiking the 40 miles home to the town where I live. |

Yeah...I sometimes pick up hitch-hikers if they are out in the middle of nowhere. Funny you should mention giving some of your passengers wild rides, and one begging to be let out - I kinda get the opposite...I get them begging me to wind up the boost and drop the hammer |

I suppose that if the good-guy picker-upers give the young girls or boys rides they could very well be saving them from being picked up by some really bad person. |

Hehe, Matrix. You see, decades ago when I was much wilder and much stupider......I would pick up hitch-hikers, when I was high on booze, pills, pot...whatever...and I would give some of my passengers the ride of their lives. I only put one of them in the hospital...but that was merely an OD. |

Really..I think it is illegal to hitchhike in my state. Usually the only way I will pick up someone I see walking is if I know them. A few years ago, I did pick up an older man and a young girl about 4 years old..I had passed a broken down car on the road and about a quarter of a mile up these two were walking, so I knew the gentleman's car had broken down. He told me he was the little girl's grandfather. My hubby also stopped a few years ago to pick a man up because it was raining..After talking to him, he told us that he had been just released from jail and no one had come to pick him up. That could have been a bad decision made by my hubby, but fortunately it all worked out ok. |

In the 70's when we lived near a military base, I would pick up servicemen. But, these days I wouldn't pick up ANYONE, unless I knew them and then I might think twice, especially if they were of questionable character. |
