Toddler Survives Near-Freezing Incident...

A 3-year-old rural South Dakota boy has survived a harrowing night alone in sub-freezing temperatures. Fargo's WDAZ TV says the boy, from Park Rapids, nearly died after spending part of the night outside his home. His mother discovered the boy had wandered out of the house only while looking for him the next morning. The toddler was taken unconscious to a local hospital. Doctors report his internal temperature had dropped to about 76 degrees. They are not sure how many hours he spent outside or how he got there. Although the boy suffered frostbite to both hands, the prognosis is good because he appears to have use of all of his fingers. It is likely he will remain hospitalized for another week while doctors continue to monitor his "return from death's door."

Poor Baby...:(

Date: 2/19/2003 1:52:00 AM  From Authorid: 49742    That poor baby. I always worry about my little grandbabies wondering off when they sleep over so I use my chain locks on the doors so they can't just walk out. I sleep lightly and near them for this purpose. Wouldn't want anything to happen.
