a couple of weeks ago a woman ran off the road and ran over our puppy, sadly the puppy died, well the pups mom and dad layed beside him and the dad (my baby) cried real tears, well we buried the pup in the yard and the dad sleeps on his grave, we can not get him to eat anything, the other day I held him and hand fed him his favorite cat food he ate two bite and wanted out, he ran right to the grave and layed down, he is so skinny right now that his bones are sticking out, the vet said there is nothing we can do but I can not give up, I can not loose my baby. If anyone knows of something I can do PLEASE tell me. We have tried everything I could think of.

Thank You

Date: 1/29/2003 6:18:00 AM  From Authorid: 47699    You need to talk to Kethria. She's a veteranarian and she's usually here in the mornings. Message her and see what she has to say about this.

Date: 1/29/2003 6:20:00 AM  From Authorid: 55251    oh, that is really sad..I'm so sorry to hear that..I'm not quite sure what to do, I would try putting him in the house and not letting him out, but that might be to cruel, and the dog would probably just cry and cry...but maybe you should try just keeping him in, even if he does just cry, just like people sometimes all we can do is cry it out intill it gets better =(
Date: 1/29/2003 6:23:00 AM  From Authorid: 51393    Now,that i think of it .I believed it's best to move you're puppy else where. If,the father still can smell the puppy. Then, mourning will be fatal in his case.I would say remove the puppy from that burial ground and move it away from there. This has to be done without the father knowing.
Date: 1/29/2003 6:27:00 AM  From Authorid: 58308    Poor thing!! Do what Frank says, Kethria can help, I'm sure of it. I feel bad for him... and you and your family.
Date: 1/29/2003 6:29:00 AM  From Authorid: 2420    Hi Niece Stormchaser, I don't have any advice for you, I just want to tell you I am so sorry this happened, this is so sad. I hope things get better for you and the puppies dad really soon *hugs*

Date: 1/29/2003 6:30:00 AM  From Authorid: 22275    Kethria* sorry, i hope you get the help you need
Date: 1/29/2003 6:32:00 AM  From Authorid: 18527    He just needs time, keep hand feeding him and fussing over him and letting him know he is special. Also your vet could prescribe some tranquilizers that might help with the depression..

Date: 1/29/2003 6:34:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 22852    Thank you everyone, I would keep him inside but it is hard to catch him, after I brought him in the other day he now runs when I try to go to him. I just do not know what to do anymore, if this keeps up I fear I will be burying him this week and I do not think my youngest son can handle it. He is so sensitive when it comes to animals, exspecially this one. This dog was born in our home 5 years ago, he really is our baby.
Date: 1/29/2003 6:43:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 22852    Thank you Kethria, I went to the site. I will see what I can do. Thank you again.
Date: 1/29/2003 7:36:00 AM  From Authorid: 54247    My prayers are with you - read a story some years ago where a firefighter died and his dog refused to leave the grave site. Friends would take food to him. But the dog, never left his owner. We have two: a rat terrier and mini doberman pin! They make my day! RAT
Date: 1/29/2003 7:43:00 AM  From Authorid: 28946    That is so sad, Storm. Is there anyway you could have him around other dogs or puppies to have play sessions? I don't know if that would help him get over his grief faster or not. I am so sorry and will keep you all in my prayers.
Date: 1/29/2003 9:28:00 AM  From Authorid: 13428    this sounds crazy I know but I am going to pray for your dog this is so sad. I can't believe how many people there are who don't believe that animals have emotions. Hugs,Sister
Date: 1/29/2003 10:16:00 AM  From Authorid: 53284    He's morning. It will take time. I'm sure that he appreciates you taking care of him. Just keep trying to get him to eat...Poor little guy.
Date: 1/29/2003 10:22:00 AM  ( Admin-JGB )   oh this is so sad gosh how to make a dog grieving feel better ? I would prolly get my dog a toy dog, see if he wanted that... or cook him a turkey, he LOVES turkey... I'm so sorry for you and your hurting dog GOOOD Luck with this!!!
