hiya guys

well i have an assignment do for CCO by friday, and i was wondering if i could get some opinions from yall. when yall first got an apartment, about how much did it cost a month, electricity, phone, water, all of that stuff...can you give me an estimate. we have to learn how to live on a budget, and we have to see how much it will cost us when we get out in the real world.

thanks!

Date: 1/28/2003 10:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    depends on the building... and if the building includes heat and hotwater(most do) don't forget down payment and usually a parking spot will cost you a few extra bucks... depending on size and location.. i live in our provinces capitol and i pay 550 a month for a 1 bedroom apartment... this includes heat hot water and a parking space(just 1) we pay 20-30 a month for hydro(electricity only) what powers 2 TVs the fridge the freezer 2 computers and a dishwasher(but all our lights have powersaver bulbs in them so that cuts what is soaked up by them by an easy 5 bux a month) phone.. basic line and call display is about 35bux a month(with call display costing maybe 5 bux) what i do suggest you think about because when a person calls wanting to interview you and your not home.. you know they called and can call them back!!think if your going to call long distance those bills add up...if you get a long distance plan that will add up... if you have a cell phone don't forget to add that in!) hrm what am i missing you also have to think about a vechiel(if you drive you have to budget in car payment, insurance, gas!!!) and don't forget about your food bill what can range from 150(if you eat just mac and cheese and canned cheap things!)-400 a month depending on how you eat..
Date: 1/28/2003 10:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    if you want to ask anythign else... let me know(i'm young and living on my own in an apartment first apartment)it may be cheaper to room with someone but remember your adding on more expenses and such oh don't forget things like internet connection(your most likely going to wan that) are you going to want dial up for cable/DSL? do you want cable TV.. basic cable is pretty cheap about 15-20bux a month and if your not a driver... busses... budget a bus pass... do you have a pet you also have to cover the costs of(we have a cat and she probally costs us 20bux a month in food and litter) comfort stuff...furniture do you have to add that in or are you assuming you already have that... don't forget to budget in some form of entertainment(your not going to spend every night in your apartment)
Date: 1/28/2003 10:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    my gosh sorry it looks like i wrote a book*L*

Date: 1/28/2003 11:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 49742    Things cost alot less when I got my first apt since that was over 30 years ago. Things are very expensive now days. But don't let that discourage you cause it's always been that way.
Date: 1/28/2003 11:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 39258    my first apartment a month was 925 a month.. phone was around 20.. electric was 60 or so and hmm.. cable was 25.. i split that 3 ways with my bf and our room mate, though lol
