A TRUE ODD ENCOUNTER IN WW2.........KiKi~*

Everymorning we go and visit my Mother and Father after we drop our Kindergardener off at school. My Father sometimes talks about assorted WW2 vivid memories. This is one of them...and very true!

My Father said that one day his Army Platoon was being transported on Ship full of Sailors...He said that one of the men had brought a dog they found on board. Although it was considered contraband it was somehow permitted. The men had been playing cards all day...and this one guy...lets call him Will...was loosing all day!...but He didn`t loose faith about winning..so he kept playing and betting.

The day wore on...and Will kept loosing...some men were watching the card game while playing with the little dog. Will was running out of money and was getting abit irate and disturbed with the fact he couldn`t win.

Finally he assumed that the men Will was playing with were cheating (which they weren`t)...Will got so mad he started blaming everyone except himself...he even blamed that poor dog!...Well no-one knows why But Will EXPLODED!....All of a sudden he got up and grabbed the little dog and TOSSED the innocent dog off the SHIP!

All the men were upset at this Action on Will`s part. Just then the Captain came into the quarters where the men were playing cards... Grabbed up all the money on the table...(Plus the Cards)...took it all top-side and dumped into the Sea!

There was nothing that could be done to save the dog...it sank into the sea and died because the waves were so high.

My Father then said...that night everyone was somber..not because of the thousands of dollars that was tossed into the Sea...but because they couldn`t help but feel sorry for the poor innocent dog that Will killed.

Needless to say their morale was down. My Father said he don`t know but he finally found sleep that night.

In the wee hours of the morning something strange happened...he noticed a disturbance amongst the Sailors.

It seemed that they found Will half insane in his bunk...he kept saying this..."THE DOG WON~T LEAVE ME ALONE! THE DOG WON~T LEAVE ME ALONE!" By his bunk Sea-water was found and on his bunk were muddy paw prints.

NO-ONE understood this...there was only one dog on board and why were prints found only on Will`s bunk?

Will was declared insane. He recieved a immediate dishonorable discharge and was Confined to sick-bay until they reached shore.

To this day...my Father and alot of men wonder what Will really saw that night to cause him to go insane. And no-one understood the Muddy paw prints only on Will`s bunk. Also Will had a scent on him that was unmistakably discribed as "Wet-Dog Smell".

How it changed my life:

This is a True Story...One of many my Father has to share.:D

It must have bothered all the guys on the ship to know a ghost walked among them with a wet dog smell. Geez! They couldn't even get off the ship to escape. Thanks for the eerie tale Keeks! No sleep for me tonight. LOL.
