Oh, God! This is HORRIBLE! I wish we had some money to send but we just don't right now. We're both still looking for work. This is so incredibly sad and it's a perfect example of how bad things happen to good people. Oh, God, I wish there was something we could do for her. If I get enough money from my new book, I'm going to send her some and try to help her to get a new computer. She's one of my very best friends here. This is so horrible that this should happen to our dear Sur5r. She has only been kind and giving to everyone here on USM. I know that she was renting the house that went down in flames and more than likely did not have renters insurance. So we might be one of the only avenues that she has that could help at this time. Sorry to hear about another tragedy amongst the USM greats, but at least only possesions and property were lost, they can mostly be replaced. A life however is priceless and they all escaped with that, and for that we can all be thankfull. I volunteer for the American Red Cross and we have to verify fires, but we verify them to MAKE SURE they actually happened... I am so sorry to hear this, I too lost a home to fire about 25 years ago. I remember the feelings of utter loss of being homeless and having to start over again. It took me years to recover. If you see her please tell her that I am thinking of her and sending goodwill and will try to contribute something to the fund. Thankfully no one was hurt in the fire and this will make it easier to recover. That's more important than material posessions.  |

I am so happy that neither of them was hurt. How tragic. I know that there are some things that are irreplacble. And I am so sorry...however, I'm sure there are lots of people here who would be willing to help with necessities by donating food and clothing and things of the such until they can get back on their feet. This saddens me so.... My Prayers and best wishes go out to Karla in this tragedy... To have ones memories of life swept away into ashes has to be devastating and yet if I know Karla she will gather her resolve and with a little help pull her life back together... I have seen Karla give tirelessly of herself helping others here,, so those of us that are able should help as much as possible to get her life back to normal... That's sad!!! I can't believe that could have happened!!! I remember reading a story written by Sur5R about when the house was built back when they still used horses and carriages. I still can't believe this!! I hope everything's gonna work out and be okay for everyone, but it's not something that can be easily replaced. Thankfully, nobody was hurt, because they would be impossible to replace!  |
