I used to live in Chicago (9 years) and worked in the John Hancock Building. On the ground floor. I brought my mother up from Kentucky and took her to the top of the Sears Tower. The elevators are high speed, and my mom held on to my hand the whole time. When she looked out of the windows from the top, at the wide expanse of the city, her eyes bugged, but she didn't say much. She wouldn't let go of me. I know her experience must have been like what I would imagine a trip to the moon would be like for me. I loved it and wouldn't have missed that experience for anything. You got to remember, she had never been out of the hills of KY, so this was like HER going to the moon. I used to have an apartment on the 42nd floor of a highrise at 100 E. Walton in Chicago, and helicopters flew by my windows. |

I have been in the John Handcock Building many, many times! The Sears Tower? only as high up as the 44th Floor. I am scared of heights, and I could never go as high as the top. |
