Well, I would wade it out so to speak. Keep one liking him for about a week or so and then, if there is something there, you'll know it. When the times is right you'll feel it. He might have a conflict going on. Like, he has liked this one person for a really long time, but then you showed up, and he is reluctant to give up on the other person, just out of habit. At least, that is what I've experienced before.
