My mother needs a "letter of interest" for a job position that is coming up soon. She's already employed for the company and this is just an advancement but an important one. Any ideas???????????

Date: 1/5/2003 8:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 47699    Well, I've never been in a position where I would need such a letter so I haven't written one. You know me. I'm not the type to use forms or outlines or formulas or anything else. I would just sit down and write a sincere letter indicating the fact that I was aware that whatever position would be coming open and that I was interested in advancing. She might also remind them of how long she has worked there and of her record as far as attendance, promptness and the quality of her work in the past. That would be my approach to the whole thing. If she doesn't feel comfortable doing that sort of thing, I would suggest that she look at her desktop. There is probably a word processor program there like Microsoft Works or something similar. She might find something like a blank form letter to work on. Those things generally guide you though the steps and let you know what you should include. I don't know if ours has that but I do know that it has form letters of different types. I hope this helps and tell her that I do wish her well. I'm sorry that I couldn't tell you more.
Date: 1/5/2003 11:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    it needs to be about 3 paragraphs in a formal letter format... an opening paragraph stating what the letter is about (basically showing interest) a second paragraph stating all her applyable skills to the position and what would make her a good candidate for it and the third being a conclusion... then he is to type and sign her name at the bottom.. if done up correctly it should take up most of a page(with a little room at the bottom) remembner the first 8 or so lines of a letter always consists of the date then who it is from and the home addy with contact info(almost like a letter head)
