The battle begins
And rage ensues as
The girl cries out in pain.
She puts up her dukes
And lashes out in anger.
Every punch she throws,
Every kick she aims
Misses its target.
Oh how she tries to win
This inner battle with herself...
But her opponent is
Too tough,
Too strong...
And her will is too weak.
For so long she has fought the depression
And it finally ends...
In a faltering breath
And a few last words -
"I fought so long
And I fought so hard
But in the end
I lost..."
A single tear traced a trail down her face
And the battle ended in defeat...
But the world whirled on
As if she never existed...
