Well, like many others I first started with P2P programs with Napster. After that, I went to Grokster, now that program is losing it's life, so I moved to KaZaA. Now, being that we live in a country where there are people who want nothing better to do than make life stink for others, I've devised a system that I use to avoid viruses and trojans on KaZaA. I decided to post this in hope that it will help others.
First of all, get a virus program. Make sure it's up to date. I use McAffee Virus Scan Online. Whenever a file is completed on KaZaA, it automatically scans the file to see if there's any viruses on it, and if so, it deletes it.
Second, it doesn't matter what type of file you are downloading, just use some common sense. If you are d/l movies, most DVD quality movies are around 700Megs, and cam movies are around 100 to 250Megs average. That's what I look for first. If you download games or programs, also look at the size. If it's only like 50k or so, you can be pretty sure that it's a virus. Just use some common sense. Look at how many others have the file. Also look at the length of the file. If it's a movie or a music file, just use some common sense. Check the length and size of the file, and if you just heed these warnings, more than likely you will be virus free.
