Help! Gift ideas for a 14 year-old???

Alrighty. Christmas is going to be very modest for my family this year. Money is tight and I'm fine with that. I plan on making most of the gifts for my family and friends. My kids will receive a few gifts but I want to concentrate on what's really important. But... I have a couple of snotty little nieces to buy for. I'm sure they won't be interested in one of my homemade candles or a quilted pot holder. I got a belly ring (for free!) from work for the older one. The 14 year old is proving to be harder to shop for. I asked my sister-in-law for suggestions. She said maybe a striped scarf and glove set from the Gap. The scarves are $17 and the gloves are $15!!! I have to spend less than that. I'm 27 and have no idea what's "cool" anymore. Can some one help me? Maybe a web site with reasonably-priced gifts... like something for $10 to $15? Thanks!

Also, have you maybe thought of doing a gift basket and create it from things like at the Family Dollar store?Or maybe even a gift certificate from Whataburger would be cool.Creat a popcorn gift basket, that would be cool or a movie gift basket. That can be priced at around 12.00 to 15.00 and is not expensive to make at all.
