"Children are a gift from God We don’t create life—God does. While we may participate as a mother or a father in bringing a child into the world, that child is a gift from our Creator. Human life is sacred and should be treated with reverence from its beginning to its end. " ![]() |

Question: Why is family so important to your Church? Answer: Gordon B. Hinckley, President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said: "A nation will rise no higher than the strength of its homes. If you want to reform a nation, you begin with families, with parents who teach their children principles and values that are positive and affirmative and will lead them to worthwhile endeavors. That is the basic failure that has taken place in America. And we are making a tremendous effort to bring about greater solidarity in families. Parents have no greater responsibility in this world than the bringing up of their children in the right way, and they will have no greater satisfaction as the years pass than to see those children grow in integrity and honesty and make something of their lives, adding to society because they are a part of it." ![]() |

and just for the record the church doesn't support polygamy....even their website states that those who participate are not part of the church and IF a member is thought to be a polygamist they are excommunicated. ![]() |

I believe what I learned while attending the mormon church is a believe that the second coming can not happen until all the souls from whereever (i think heaven) come down and are birthed. not sure though......but I like what becky said as I know familes are of the most importance to mormons. they have this thing called family home evenings.....becky! did you do those? they are great family time to learn and share![]() ![]() |

I was a practicing Mormon for many years. Actually, the first thing that attracted me to the religion was their family values. I came from a very dysfunctional family and I saw how important family was to them and I saw the love and respect that was given in families and I liked that. Why do they have so many children? The same reason why anyone would have a lot of children....because they want them and they love them. I know Mormon families that are small and I know families with a lot of kids. Like any other grouping it is a generalization to say that they all have large families. And....they do use birth control. They are not against it. Although I am no longer an actual "member" of the Mormon church anymore....I still have a great deal of respect for them and have learned many things from them that I now carry over to my own life and practice in my own family. ![]() |
