Date: 11/24/2002 2:54:00 PM From Authorid: 10915 Well, prayer on the knees shows humility and reverance. But, it doesn't matter how you pray as long as you do pray. Just as long as it is sincere and respectful. |
Date: 11/24/2002 2:57:00 PM From Authorid: 16069 I dont think it matters at all. Im sure God just glad that you take the time out for him. I do the same as you do. I dont really pray, I just talk to him like hes a friend. I do that till I fall asleep. |
Date: 11/24/2002 3:00:00 PM From Authorid: 59746 Well, to tell the true, I've been wondering the same thing, myself. Strangely, I pray the same way sometimes. I lie on my back in bed sometimes, and get on my knees at my bedside sometimes. I don't really think it does matter how we pray, just as long as it is humble and comes from our hearts. |
Date: 11/24/2002 3:05:00 PM From Authorid: 61933 It doesn't matter how you pray. I know people who pray in their cars on the way to work in the morning. You don't even have to fold your hands. I feel that you should be able to talk to God like your talking to a friend. Just talk to him, he's always listening. *hugs* Hells Lil Angel |

Date: 11/24/2002 3:41:00 PM From Authorid: 19092 Unlike others who have replied, I do believe that it matters how I pray. Even the disciples asked jesus to "teach" them to pray and from that we have the "Lords Prayer". Within the Lords prayer I see a formula (I always liked math, LOL). 1) Begin with praise, acknowledge God and His place, He is worthy of praise. 2) Confession, get yourself right with God. Most parents will not respect the requests of mis-behaved children until they ask for forgiveness. 3) Something I insert here is a quiet time, listen for God, allow Him the opportunity to speak to your heart. It's hard to hear Him when we're talking. 4) Now it's time to "ask", bring Him your requests, troubles, and needs. Spill your guts, LOL. 5) end the prayer with praise. The Lords prayer opens with praise and ends with praise. Should our prayers be any different? After all, He was "teaching" us to pray... |
Date: 11/24/2002 3:45:00 PM From Authorid: 46527 As long as you pray from your heart I see no reason not to pray anywhere and in any position that you wish. |
Date: 11/24/2002 3:47:00 PM From Authorid: 55533 Yes, i do pray from my heart! |
Date: 11/24/2002 3:50:00 PM From Authorid: 177 There is no right or wrong way to pray. I think that whatever works for you is fine with God. |
Date: 11/24/2002 3:55:00 PM From Authorid: 50861 Of course it does not matter how you pray. U chould pray in the shower even. As long as you mean what u say when u pray thats what counts |
Date: 11/24/2002 3:56:00 PM From Authorid: 177 As King Caspian has stated...there are many different types of prayer. I agree with that much. I'm not sure if meditation was mentioned...but that is where the person after prayer, puts themselves in a receptive mode and waits for answers, which often come in the form of insights or intuition. |

The way I began to pray during the past few years is I just start talking out loud when I am alone. I share my frustrations with God, I share my excitement and thank him. It would appear I was talking to myself, but I look up into the ceiling of the house and just talk. I don't know if he listens or cares, but that is my way of praying for things. I don't think anything in my life has changed for the worst yet. I pray for the whole world to look to the higher power and see themselves. Myself included, I am always explaining to God why I did certain things when I did. Sorry, this is rambling, but I think pray in the way is comfortable for you and he will listen. |

Date: 11/24/2002 6:47:00 PM From Authorid: 10915 Well what I got from this post wasn't so much how you pray, but what physical position you pray. I would much rather pray either kneeling, standing up or sitting down. |
Date: 11/24/2002 10:55:00 PM From Authorid: 42535 it doesnt matter at all how you pray, but rather the place your heart is at...be with God, just be. |
Date: 11/24/2002 11:24:00 PM From Authorid: 23610 When you pray....your mind and your heart matter....not your body position. And....like Gorm, believe that meditation is a form of prayer...and an especially effective one since it involves stilling oneself and listening. |
