What would you have against this topic? B.Monkey13

This is a Debate/Questions/Religion, I put it in Debate, because my topic has to be debatable and I have to debate my stance. I'm taking a public speaking course at school and our last speech is a "Persuasive" speech. The professor said that we will have to have a Q & A at the end of speech and debate it out. She has approved everybody's speech, they range from "Stem Cell Research" to "Do you think that it is right to hunt?" Mine I don't really think is too debateable, but maybe some of you do have objections to my topic and I can get a head start on my speech due on the 20th.

I am going to persuade my audience to donate their bodies to science at death. I already have covered the question, "What if they laugh at my body" and the answer is that at the level in the student's course of studies they are taught to respect the donation and treat it as a gift. No bodies will be put to waste. The only thing I'm worried is about something I know about the least, and that is religion. So what are some religious objections to the donations? Any other questions do you think will come up. I'm going to watch Blade Runner with my Idiot Boyfriend right now, so I'll look tomorrow, love you guys..B.Monkey13

Date: 11/9/2002 10:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 13119    You are supposed to be whole when you leave, for my dad it was knowing that little slivers of my mom's brain would be in labs all over the country and that they can do with your body what they wish. A doctor in Toronto was charged last week for selling body parts, admittedly they were old but they were still bodies that had been donated for science not for some freak of a doctor to make money off of.
Date: 11/9/2002 11:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 36901    This is a touchy subject for me personally. I would gladly give my body parts so that someone may live, see, etc... but I wouldn't want them used in some wacked out lab for who knows what. The problem is: how can you really know what your body is going to be used for if you do choose to donate. Good luck on your speech. Sorry I couldn't help.
Date: 11/10/2002 12:41:00 AM  From Authorid: 53052    the pros and cons... it saves furneral costs... and your body is only a holder(kind of a host) for the soul after you pass on your soul leaves the body and is almost like a shell
Date: 11/10/2002 2:04:00 AM  From Authorid: 34814    Religious wise I believe we are just in a body. So who cares the soul leaves it. I would also add like what family members would think of it though? I could see some people being totally freaked out!
Date: 11/10/2002 2:06:00 AM  From Authorid: 34814    I have to agree with the whack science project beign preformed on me LOL Nasty thought but I do believe the souls leaves. SOme people say it hangs around for a while though. I would be ok with not being sent to that place but to like save someone I knows life is different.
Date: 11/10/2002 9:43:00 AM  From Authorid: 53427    I agree with the others who say that are bodies are just a shell. Its our soul that matters. I think I would like to donate my organs but I wouldn't like my entire body donated to science. Thats not based on a religious belief just a personal preference.
Date: 11/12/2002 8:02:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57232    Thanks to everybody who replied, I'll need it for my speech so I'll be on my toes about the questions.
