A More "Professional" Looking Website

I think this site idea is a great one, where people can suggest stories, humour, etc.

I also think that this website is graphic intensive which is "cute" but a little hard on the eyes after a while.

Less graphics (smiley faces, blinking this and that, etc.) would speed up load time and look less amateurish and more professional.

The ability to add HTML tags to your stories etc. would be nice as well to add things like bullets, bold, etc.

Fixing spelling errors within the site would also give it a more professional look. I'm not sure what your focus is...if it's for young people then maybe you want a less "professional" look.

I do find the font/background/typeface a little hard on the eyes though when I'm reading.

Just a few suggestions. No criticisms :)

Miskela

THe only thing i would have to agree is maybe be able to use html tags...but then again, i dont want to read BIG HUGE letters...this average print is fine..but sometimes maybe bold font or bullets might help to express yourself better or make the point clearer..also, maybe a spell check for some people, im not saying I dont need it, cuz i know i do..but some people are worse off then me..lol

Date: 10/31/2002 2:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 46527    I think the site looks just great as it is, I do have to agree that the font is a little hard on the eyes though, I always click and drag over the text to highlight it and make it a little easier to read
Date: 10/31/2002 3:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 53427    I agree the bright flashy lights could be toned down a bit. It is hard on my eyes sometimes.
Date: 10/31/2002 4:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 1631    Kids like bright colors and they make up the majority of the users here so....you know...
Date: 11/1/2002 5:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 60792    well to take away some of the graphics like you say and then add other things is like the same thing. Also you have to think about the money that this site costs.
Date: 11/1/2002 5:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 60792    I agree michael! I've been here 3 months and I'm not tired of it in the least bit.
Date: 11/2/2002 5:47:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 61913    Well it's nice to see loyal USM'ers.

Last I checked, this was a "suggestion" section about the site. So I made suggestions, based on my first impressions (my apologies if they don't completely fit with yours).

To each his/her own and all that.

Date: 11/4/2002 8:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 51407    I agree that it is a little hard on the eyes... Maybe theres just a little bit too many colors? OR OR OR.... we could simply have our own setting in our profile. We simply put in what colors we want our background and font to be. That way we could all be satisfied. =)
