(10/30/02 - LANSING, Mich.) — A buck turned himself in to police Monday, then thought better of it.

The deer crashed through the window of Lansing Township police Chief Kay Hoffman's office. Then, with a minor cut on its mouth, it jumped back out and took off.

"My secretary thought someone was shooting at me," Hoffman said. Hoffman was in a meeting down the hall when the deer paid its visit.

Brad Wurfel, a spokesman for the state Department of Natural Resources, noted that it's mating season for deer and bucks can be expected to do strange things.

"They're feeding, they're breeding and they're trying to stay warm," Wurfel said.
