this is the tale of a boy,
a boy whose name was Roy.
He was prepared to travel
upon the hard, cold gravel
of the road to the south...
he had just put a bite in his mouth,
when he heard a faint voice.
He shuddered at the noise
and decided to leave at once.
this boy, who was truly a dunce,
started walking toward his end,
he ran across a mountain bend,
thus beginning his sojourn,
where he would truly learn
who it was that was called love..
and so inside him, as if from high above,
a voice urged him to go on..
So he ran 'til he came upon,
a man so unlike the sad young Roy,
the man's face glowed of fulfilled joy.
Roy asked the man why he felt so,
and he answered Love with arrow and bow,
had stricken him the day before,
as he sauntered by the shore,
he saw a woman beautiful as sunshine,
and felt his heart beat gay and fine,
it had been Love, that pierced his heart,
with a honey-tipped dart,
and lost in bliss he went to her,
and wrapped her in his arms, very sure
that she would be his forever...
Roy said he had never
felt such thing as that before,
and his heart tore even more...
he was a sad kid, sad as the moon,
he said if he did not find Love soon,
he'd be lost in grief and perpetual pain,
his heart weighed down by the chain
of loneliness and hate.
He noticed it was getting late,
and asked the man where he could find Love,
the man said," trust in god above,
and follow your heart, for it'll lead you there.."
and so Roy gave the man a grateful stare
and told him that he didn't wish to share
with him his grief,
for it would steal, like a thief,
the blanket of joy that covered the man.
The nights went by, and still he ran...
A thousand nights, from boy to man,
through stormy nights he fought,
to find the person that he sought..
He finally got to where he wanted,
by now a thousand nights grief had haunted,
his poor old withered heart.
he knocked on doors and yet no dart
had touched his aching body,
he looked around, but nobody,
would open the door to such filthy being...
until one day as he was seeing
the leaves washed down a stream,
he heard upriver a faint scream,
curiosity knitting a web in his soul,
he walked behind some bushes and stole
a glance from where the noise had come..
At once he was left dumb,
as he stared at the river down yonder
a gasp escaped him of pure wonder,
for he had never seen such beauty in his life
he knew the being below would be his wife,
and felt how it feels when Love strikes you,
and thus he knew it was true
that Love lived in that magical place,
and that the endless chase
he had endured had finally ended
and that his heart was now mended,
from the grief that had torn it,
and now Roy thought it fit,
to draw all his courage and go forth,
a boy turned man from the north,
seeking love in southern arms.
and so she met him quite alarmed,
for he looked dirty, tired and old..
yet a voice inside her told
that he would fill the void inside
her, that she would survive...
and blessed as they most might be
Roy lived forever happily,
wrapped in southern arms...
